There is so much corruption in college sports, glad they are starting to bring the hammer downDon't think you'll see any of our coaches involved in this.
Solution? The NCAA should have a coaching salary cap at something like 200K. Really it's the leagues that are making the problems. If they just went back to letting HS players in you'd see less of this.Frankly, I am tired of the fraud of amateurism in college sports. These coaches and university and NCAA administrators are paid millions. The two major sports of college are the minor leagues Basketball and Football with the highest paid minor coaches in the world. Why do we get bent out of shape about this? When are we going to realize this?
Who is the real employer though? If Adidas or an agent are willing to pay between $9k-$13k PER PLAYER delivered, who's the real employer? We haven't had anyone with a high enough draft stock to be directed to an agent for money. You have coaches being paid to entice players to leave the school which is paying them and enter the NBA. Basically greedy self serving coaches who are working against the interest of their employer.
You are correct. The NFL helped college football by having an "experience" requirement of 3 years out of HS. Speaking of, Mike Leach had a great quote during his press conference this week about how badly kids would do in the NFL directly out of HS. Things to the effect of they'd get their brains beat in.Frankly, I am tired of the fraud of amateurism in college sports. These coaches and university and NCAA administrators are paid millions. Best article I have seen on it so far...I'm sure there are more but this is the one that paints the picture best (IMO): https://sports.yahoo.com/fbi-brings-armageddon-college-basketball-just-tip-iceberg-184524346.html
With Lamont Evans being OSU's associate head coach & recruiting coordinator, this has to affect OSU recruiting this fall. I know Lawpoke & others have commented on how well recruiting has been going with the new head coach. Time will tell if Evans was the main reason for the recruiting success.
Small now, bigger dividends later. Why was Evans taking such small bribes when he was making so much money? I understand the motivation to get kids to come to play for his school.

Patino fired.
Great a scandal of a dirty old man molesting Hispanic maid #toosoon? Is that a cross between Rick Pitino and Joe Paterno?
Well Sean just got a job w/ Texas Tech as "Advisor to the Head Coach".I'd be surprised if Scott Sutton doesn't have a smile on his face sitting by the phone right now.

The NBA either needs to follow suit OR the NCAA needs to reinstitute the 5/8 scholarship limits with some exceptions made for kids who transferred to another NCAA institution about filling that 'ship not counting against that limit. Coaches, like Calipari, would be less likely to take a class of 5 or 6 one and dones (or even 2 or 3).
I wouldn't be surprised if the Feds went after the AAU circuit next. These few NCAA coaches are diddly compared to the money that flows on the AAU circuit.
Actually, I don't give a rats about this but let's stop acting like there is amateurism in these sports. The freaking softball coach at OU is clearing 1,000,000 a year.
If he gets a buyout, it is beyond insanityOfficial from Louisville...both Pitino and Jurich have been fired. I wonder if Louisville is going to try to not have to pay Pitino's buyout considering he was probably fired under "just cause" for lack of program control.
It's my understanding that it's the NBA and NFL making the rules, not the NCAA. Take it up with Goodell and those billionaire owners. See where that gets you.I think it is complete trash that these kids are not allowed to jump directly to the pros. The primary white sports have no limitations on this. It should be up to the NFL and NBA teams to determine if they have the build and skills to jump. Players should be allowed to return to college if they don't go where they want to in the draft. Golf, Baseball, Soccer, Hockey, NASCAR, Tennis etc... participants all have the ability to jump directly to the pros. I am glad to see kids go abroad, get paid and get a cool international experience living abroad.

Yeah...not sure if Scott is ready to go back to Stillwater as any type of coach or advisor. Eddie is in bad health right now and my understanding is Scott and his wife take care of his parents at their home here in Tulsa.Thanks. Didn't know that, but from the optics of the OSU program right now, it might be in their best interests to at least interview Scott. He has a pretty clean background at a religiously based school and with deep connections in Stillwater. Most of OSU's problem right now is perception after seeing Underwood leave the program so quickly and the Travis Ford fiasco that saw attendance drop to the bottom.
Just looking at the basketball magazines so far, OSU was picked pretty close to the bottom of the Big12 and now this just shows a program in complete turmoil.
It might be a situation where they need a short term interim coach.
