ORU Thread

Their student section is badass and they brought some of them tonight. Was nice to see our student section out chant their chants and give them grief.
Huge part of the college game.
Their student section is badass?

Absolutely not. They’re a bunch of weirdos who don’t understand basketball. Time for curfew shuts them up pretty quick.

It was entertaining to watch them both go back and fourth with each other , made it feel like a true rivalry game , a true no NIL college basketball rivalry

Gonna have to disagree with you man. There’s nothing badass about those folks. They’re weirdos… and that’s putting it mildly.

How many games have you been to at ORU?

Our students haven’t been able to touch them since like 02-03 or whenever the Reynolds Rowdies (football players) got in trouble for some stupid crap.

Call them weirdo cult members or whatever you like but they outshine our student section in basketball support by eleventy billion points

Eh they’re definitely weirdos. But I guess you can say they gather to be a whole gaggle of weirdos. I’m not sure that makes them as neat as you are making them seem.

I’ve seen every game in the series except the first in the fairgrounds
A famous TU win
But I could hear KRMG radio from an amazing distance
Recently saw the film of the game
Highs and lows
Always a memory of my late parents

ORU people are the most annoying insufferable group I’ve ever seen. Why the hell would anyone ever go there? What a weird ass cult
From someone that worked there, students go for one of two reasons. The 1st is, it's their only choice because their parents made it for them. It's a sheltered protective bubble where they can continue to shield them from experiencing the outside world. The other is because they truly believe in the prosperity gospel and a place like ORU will help them towards that. In the charismatic, evangelical Christian world, church planting is a big deal. In the end it's nothing more than a Ponzi scheme and the pastors of these churches have figured out a way to profit off the word of God.

ORU has 1 academic program that is comparable in quality to anything TU, OU, or OSU have and that's the nursing program.

Nice defensive game despite allowing them to get back into the game in the last 12 minutes of the game.
I think this was more a product of our piss poor offense in the last 5 minutes. I was wondering if Haith had come back and decided we should run the clock out by standing around and jacking up bad 3's in the last 5 seconds of the shot clock, or even worse, jack up a 3 5 seconds into the shot clock while you're up 15 with under 5 to play.

As a Christian myself ( which means we know we are not perfect or anywhere close to it which is why I need Christ ,think is forgotten about way too much ) I couldn’t agree more . There are so many of these “ churches” that just want to make money off of hurting people looking for hope , it’s a horrible thing. People like Joel Osteen and Kenneth Copeland are examples of this.
Ps - not trying to shove my beliefs on anyone , just wanted to point out how many misuse the Church

You're 100% correct. I'm not a theologian at all, never even took a modern religion class. Most of my Christian beliefs have probably been formed in the last 10-15 years. So many scriptures are taken out of context and bastardized. The prosperity gospel is one. The I Corinthians 13:4- passage about love gets co-opted as a passage about marital love when it's really a passage about how to love your fellow man (you know, the Love Thy Neighbor commandment that Jesus said is 2nd only to Love God). And the evangelicals think that Christianity is about keeping a scorecard and checking off boxes to get into heaven when reality is, all you have to do is be a good person (controversial, I know). This is why they keep bringing up isolated scriptures in their blasting of LGBTQ folks.

Anyway, my time at ORU was a good thing for parts but I also learned thing and became a little jaded towards evangelicalism at the same time. The number of times I heard "I thought this was supposed to be a Christian school" when someone didn't get their way was enough to make me want to destroy my ear drums with an ice pick.

We are to love everyone ! Even our enemies ( which is easier said then done , Lord knows I struggle with that ) don’t know why people blast others , we all fall short , none of us are better then anyone , we are saved by Grace by faith in Christ
That’s why I get so irritated by some of these Christian schools that act like they are better then everyone else , it even goes into the high schools.
I remember in highschool, out of all of the schools we played , I was never cussed out more then I was when I played Casia Hall. Some of the things I was called would make things on this board G rated 😂
Well there’s my speech , I wanted to get that off my chest for a long time about ORU 😂 I owe you a steak dinner for that lol

Oru fans: this isn’t our Super Bowl!

Oru fans on their message board:

“It seems early in the season, but the Super Bowl is already here (Mayor’s Cup)!”

Lol they are also mad no one really talked about the game over here beforehand… we didn’t talk about Arkansas Pine bluff or NSU much either - basically the same caliber of team.

They're such a massive group of clowns.

I seen that 😂 They were also disappointed that we weren’t talking about the game days before
Edit - just seen you said that last part what I put about them being disappointed we weren’t talking about them

There’s a sizable percentage of our alumni that would just as soon keep the mayor’s cup, tell that alleged school on south Lewis to F off and never have to deal with them again. The last thing we want to do would be talking about them, how weird they are, or the fourth rate “edumacation” they’re receiving there.
