We need 2. we need a 6'8" 260lb center that was suspended from high school about 5 times for fighting, and a guard that will take his first shot instead of pump faking it and driving into 4 players while throwing up a prayer.Originally posted by bigzit:
The talent gap is HUGE.
Deny all you want.... but it's simple and clear.
We need about 6 new players.... won't happen. Oh well....
GO REDBIRDS!
I'm hearing good things about Keevan Lucas' development in throwing lobs to himself.Originally posted by Babe the Blue Ox:
So who starts at QB this fall?
Prohm had a week to prepare and he coached Haith under the table. Every set they ran created an open look and they have shooters that can hit open looks.Originally posted by TulsaAM:
They shot 56% from three and shot a ton of them. Nothing you can do about that.
Nice post Phoggy. Thanks for not mentioning that other team.Originally posted by PhoggyBottom:
TU played hard all night. TU rebounded the ball better (MSU may have had more rebounds but that is solely due to TU missing so many more shots). TU forced more turnovers. TU got to the rim at will. The difference was TU missed a ton of lay ups and MSU hit an abnormal number of 3s. It is not a fluke that MSU won but the margin of victory was a fluke. There really isn't much of a talent gap. MSU hit 38% of their 3s on the year. That is great but 60% is a fluke.
TUs needs are obvious. Someone that can score in the post. Another outside shooter. If someone could teach Harrison to shoot from 15 feet, he would be unguardable. One more shooter would help Smith more than anyone. He could be very difficult to guard on the high post if he had a second option for a kick out if he couldn't get to the rim.

Yeah, this town crapped out late in the year. It's a really fair weather place these days. How did we sell out CBI games and not this?Originally posted by TUBballJunkie:
I'm also disappointed in the lack of fan support.

People actually thought that team was special with Uzoh and Jordan. Thought this was going to be the beginning of a long successful run of basketball.Originally posted by Gold* Yeah, this town crapped out late in the year. It's a really fair weather place these days. +1. TU has a lot of holes to fill and none of them can be filled with players from the current roster. Unless Haith has a Kurtz, a Shelton and a Ruffin waiting in the wings (and that is a very tall order to fill), I don't see TU as an NCAA tournament team next year. It's going to be tough to sweep Memphis, Houston and Temple next year. Hope I'm wrong. I haven't quite lost the bitter taste from the meltdown vs. UCONN in the semifinals.Originally posted by T Up:

Two years later they had all seen enough.
This team overachieved in the middle of the year. We were 5-5 in our first 10 and 2 and 4 in our last 6 for a 7-9 record with only one or two decent victories (Memphis for one). In between we went 16-2. Fantastic stretch by anyone's measure. However, it was fool's gold. This team has a bunch of holes to fill.
You can say, well we missed 16 layups in the last game, we shot poorly from three and they were lights out. All true, but all that means is we don't have the talent to finish at the rim, shoot free throws (except tonight), or consistently shoot the three ball.
When something happens over and over, it stops being a fluke and becomes the norm. Our norm is not at a high enough level to be a tournament team at this time. We have only one year left with this very large class of players. All have two years of post season experience now. Without some MAJOR improvement and some MAJOR additions, next year we will be lucky to be a top 4 team in this conference and that won't be dancing again. Let's see where we are rated preseason.
I want us to succeed. I live and die by our basketball team. Have for 50 years. I just fear we may be another major overhaul from getting back to being a top 25-35 team unless this group of coaches pulls some shooting rabbits out of their axxes.
