Missouri S&T Exhibition

I thought same thing and add Reed but not even close last night
I don't know how fluky our shooting was. We weren't any better last year. Barnes has a nice looking shot but I don't remember him being particularly effective outside except for maybe 1 game. We haven't been a good 3 pt shooting team in quite some time despite all the raves about certain players coming in.

And it still doesn't sound like we can defend consistently.

Maybe not but they could probably calculate the tax on said NIL check in their heads
I still can't believe ASSTOWN is still on this record thing. Last night's game isn't even listed on our official schedule on ESPN....the game we lost to SEOSU? IT WAS. There is a big difference in how losses in those games are handled...last night's loss wouldn't have hurt in any way shape or form as far as the NCAA is concerned.

Agreed that is was basically a fancy scrimmage.

I get that but you best believe that if, somehow, TU were in the mix for an at large bid to any tournament, this would be talked about whether or not it's on the official record or calculated in the computer rankings. Remember, there are real live people making the decisions, not a computer.

My disappointment is related to what I saw in practice from Willis, Reed and Barnes. Even in warmups their shots are just not right. Hell the walk ins were shooting better.

I think it is a stretch to think an at large decision will be made because of someone remembering we lost an exhibition game. It would not even be on the team sheets.

The next one is D2 as well but on the real schedule.

No it wouldn't. Do you think the selection committee is going to go to TU's official website and look at that game if they have a good season? Of course not. It's not listed on their schedule because its an EXHIBITION. The SEOSU game was not.

Looks like the difference was free throws. They couldn't hit them and we got more.
We just have to rebound and take care of the ball. The rebounding is the most annoying part bc turnovers are usually an issue early in the season. Just need more focus and effort and getting a couple guys back.

Not gonna lie, this game has Konkol Year 1 vibes. Looking forward to being pleasantly surprised.
I was there and have no idea what to make of it. Like I said it is always good to have a successful comeback. But a D1 team should beat a D2 team handily and our rebounding was poor. We are also a small team. Basically everyone is a guard or SF except two guys among those who played yesterday.

Yes we only had two 6’10 guys available last night (Reed and Smikle). We need the other two bigs back (Garcia 6’9 and Amadi 6’8).

It is surprising that we'd have the same number of rebounds and points in paint as a D2 team unless that was a data reporting issue. Hopefully we'll be more locked in when they count.

According to the MOST website, they only have 2 guys over 6'6" and one is a freshman who didn't play much. The Andrew Young guy cleaned up (looks like 15 rebounds after averaging just over 6 last year), but the rest who did their damage were 6'6" or less.

They need to start taking Matt Reed to Golden Corral. He took off too much weight and the course of a season sheds more pounds. No one runs Robbie Avila out of the paint.

I'm sure we will. I'll judge more after Monday (a game we should win very easily and dominate the boards against)

Exhibitions are to be taken with a grain of salt. He might have went in at half time and told them to let the other team come back because he wanted to play a scenario where he wanted to see how we responded to a close game going to end of game. You never know. It could be he was looking for certain aspects of a game and didnt want to do inside out because it was something else he was trying to see. You just never know. Exhibition games are not about winning, they are about trying to see where we could be weak, where we can improve, try new things, give those who might be rusty more minutes, give freshmen minutes....a whole bunch of things. It just isnt about winning.

Agree 1000%, which is why you play them against D2 schools, so you can do those things and still win by 20......

I don’t think he wanted a close game as he wanted to get more players time. It was good experience though to win a close game. Performance revealed a lot, mostly concern. A few days to turn it around. And please Eric, put in a better OOB play😂

We did have a 17 pt lead in the 1st half and I thought we were on our way to a blowout. But we either eased off with the lead or we didn’t have the right combos out there. But that’s one of the reasons for exhibitions-trying different combinations.
I was also extremely disappointed but we’ll see if we bounce back with a much better game Monday. I am concerned that we will lose a number of non-con games before we get Garcia and Amadi back.

Do you really think that if we were actually in contention for a play in bid that no one in the media would bring it up?

THIS WAS AN EXHIBITION GAME!!! My goodness what in the hell is wrong with you guys? Everyone just calm down and lets see how it goes when we have all of our players healthy and the games actually mean something!

Has there been any reason given for Amadi being on the bench in street clothes? Injury, discipline, leaving team, academic transcript questions, etc.
