My favorite toppings are pepperoni, Italian sausage, onions and bell peppers. Anything else (other than anchovies and pineapple) I can take or leave. I usually ask for light olives if I’m getting a combo that includes olives. Was not impressed with New York Pizza. Picked up a pizza from there in '22. You guys are fungi disabled. Meatball & shrooms are the best two toppings. I keep not getting around to stopping at Empire on 11th. I still like NYC City Pizza at 51st & Harvard.

Yes, still a bunch of them in Oklahoma...locations in at least 50 cities/towns. I believe they still have open locations in Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Mississippi and Missouri. Is Mazzio’s still around? All the locations near us in Texas have closed.
Appears it is called Bishop Quigley and is an Elliott Nelson concept (McNellie's Group). And I see they have Chug Norris on tap. This is a found restaurant 🍴 in Tulsa.
You all should check out Quigley's Pub
at 1810 S Cincinatti. It's a really laid back & cool 🏂 Pub. They've been in business a little over a year.
I just forgot to type in Bishop Quigley's Pub, sorry. Yeah it's a nice concept, really nice neighborhood bar, and the Menu is a really limited British Pub menu. But the sister business next door was opened by Mcnellie's with the same joint proprietor as B Quigley. It's called Maple Ridge Grocer. They don't have that much groceries, it's mainly a casual slightly upscale restaurant.Appears it is called Bishop Quigley and is an Elliott Nelson concept (McNellie's Group). You can order off either place's menu no matter where you are sitting, in the Grocer or the Pub. I had a shot of Wellers, a few Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale's, and a Salmon Patty sandwich off the Grocer's menu while sitting in the pub. The Grocer is light and airy, and the pub is grounded in oak and dim lighting. Next time I'll have the Pub Curry w/ chicken. They have a nice brunch and dinner menu, and a decent array of hoity toity drinks.
They have a sweet T shirt with the Bishop Quigley Logo and the back says 'May the Pints be with You.' They recently started having a medium sized traditionalish irish band once a month w/ flute, banjo, fiddle, guitars, and singer. They are in the background instead of in your face. So the din of conversation continues while the band plays.
Not enough salt, not enough heat, not enough curry, or some combination of the three? The curry was a bit bland.
Truer words have never been spoken. Might as well just heat up a Red Baron.Anybody that puts canned mushrooms on a pizza needs to be taken to the wood shed.
I stopped my critique at canned mushrooms, but I didn't even like their sauce. And I'm pretty accepting of most sauces at most pizza places (of any repute) being within range of each other. Not theirs.Truer words have never been spoken. Might as well just heat up a Red Baron.
Well that kind of diet does cause low T in older guys...Had a friend in Sapulpa bring over some Ken's this weekend. No complaints 'tall. I might've been flying half-mast!
Are we talking classic crust, brick oven, thin & crispy, deep dish singles or french bread?Might as well just heat up a Red Baron.
My first job was busing tables and washing dishes at that Sirloin Stockade! Reading this thread is bringing back memories!Sirloin Stockade at 21st & Garnett was the place to go when I was a kid. My parents always called it the “Sizzler” for some reason and never by it’s given name.
And Panchos made taquitos that the dog wouldn’t even touch.
LOL, Shotgun Sam's! Haven't thought of that place in 30 years. My first job was busing tables and washing dishes at that Sirloin Stockade! Reading this thread is bringing back memories!
A few of my favorite pizza places from my youth were Shakey’s, Crystals, Shotgun Sam’s & Dave’s Pizza Train on 11th Street. BTW, I actually found a Shakeys Pizza in Palm Springs, CA in the early 2000s. It was still very good!
What about Godfather's. I never ate at Sam's and Dave's. For you, was it one of the best or just among that group as good?My first job was busing tables and washing dishes at that Sirloin Stockade! Reading this thread is bringing back memories!

I loved Shotgun Sam’s pizza. I was elementary to junior high age, so take that with a grain of salt. What about Godfather's. I never ate at Sam's and Dave's. For you, was it one of the best or just among that group as good?
There are a couple Godfather's near me. Are they gone from Tulsa? Next time I come down, I'll bring you someWhat about Godfather's. I never ate at Sam's and Dave's. For you, was it one of the best or just among that group as good?
I never ate at Shotgun Sam’s. The old man took one look at the logo, said it reminded him of OSU, asked around and confirmed that it was originally supposed to be called Pistol Pete’s and that was it. Off limits to our family. No way was my father even indirectly going to support the very idea of OSU, even knock offs.I loved Shotgun Sam’s pizza. I was elementary to junior high age, so take that with a grain of salt.
Dave’s was probably more flirting with the waitresses (they were 16-17 years old, like I was) & the pizza itself wasn’t nearly as memorable!
Yes they are gone. Oh I don't expect them to be that great now. That was another time. I like local smaller scale places now. I'm not still a Budweiser drinker. Now if I could partake of Crystal's again, then that would be a consideration for a time machine. I'm more for places like Pie Hole or their equivalent in other cities now. I do like some old school places like NYC Pizzeria though. But that fit's into my preference for local, smaller. Maybe we could do Andolini's though. Pie Hole isn't an eat there place. There are a couple Godfather's near me. Are they gone from Tulsa? Next time I come down, I'll bring you some![]()
That’s hilarious! We had just moved to Tulsa from out of state & we had no loyalty to any Oklahoma schools. I never heard or knew of any OSU connection with Shotgun Sam’s! This was the 1970s & OU was the main program everyone followed in my new neighborhood. OSU was rarely discussed.I never ate at Shotgun Sam’s.
