All-time: Dobbs and it isn't even close. My dad and I played golf with him before he died at some fundraiser. What an awesome man -- and pretty good golfer even in his advanced years.

Not only was Dobbs an outstanding player and an innovative coach who changed the way football is played in college, he loved the university and supported it throughout his life. He bled blue and gold and he was the the football program's greatest ambassador. By the way, his coaching innovations were not limited to use of the forward pass.; he was one of the first, if not the first, major college coaches to give his players water breaks during summer two-a-days.

Dobbs was also an unbelievable punter. Led all punters in AAFC (Competing league with NFL 1946-49 with Cleveland Browns and 49ers). Averaged about 45 a punt in the days when averages were way lower. 48 a punt at TU as a senior.
