ITS GAMEDAY!!!!

Tulsa Men travel to Philly to take on Temple. Not sure if Pritchard will be out there but if the press conference after the USF game and what has been happening, I am sure he didn’t make the trip.

Yesterday the women got ran over by Memphis which makes both teams 1-7 in their last 8 games.

TCU hang a hundo on Oklahoma State and beat them by 25.

The only game in American action saw Tulane (Tulsa’s only conference win, beat up on South Florida on the road by 18.

Todays Games

There are four game in the American, a double header on the U with Cincy at UCF and Tulsa at Temple. Memphis travels to Houston on ESPN and the Pirates and the Ponies are on the plus.

AND ONE

Antoine Davis of Detroit Mercy scored 30 points in the Titans 20-point win over Oakland. He has 3,471 points so far and 196 from tying Pete Maravich. With a minimum of 4 games left he will need to average 49 points to catch Pete. That will be a massively tall order to fill. So if he has any chance at getting that this season the Titans will have to make the NCAA tournament by winning the Horizon or he will need a couple of Hall of Fame worthy games. That Hall of fame run starts this afternoon against IUPUI.

GO TU!!!

Davis scored 31 points in their 81-68 victory over IUPUI today bringing his total to 3,502 points and 165 off the mark. Mercy will need a deep run to help him out

Yeah, so about ORU being a possible at large team if it wins out and loses the Summit tourney. It's not happening. Since being at 36 2 weeks ago, all ORU has done is win each game they've played and dropped 9 spots in the NET rankings. I'll admit the NET rankings give an awful built in bias to the power conferences giving too much credit to losing to good teams and not enough credit for beating the teams you should beat. Texas Tech is 54 in the NET. They are 15-12 and 4-10 in the Big XII. They get more credit for losing to Baylor or Kansas or anyone above them than ORU gets for winning a game. Theoretically a team that ends up 0-26 with losses to the top 13 NET ranked teams could end up better than a team from the SWAC that might be 24-0 with all their wins against Q3 and Q4 teams. The bias is ridiculous.

BTW, St. Mary's is #7 in the NET and my guess is they'll end up with a 6 seed or worse (# of losses + 1). Travesty

If ORU can be on the top 50 of the NET I believe they make it in even if they don’t win the summit tournament. They have two regular season games left. One is at SDSU which will be tough. So they will have at least 26 wins , 27 if they beat SDSU. They get to the championship game they will have 28 or 29 wins. As long as they are in the top 50 I believe they get in

Question will be Q1 and 2 wins.

This post is just wrong, wrong, wrong. I apologize in advance. However, the title of this thread is "games of interest to me" Well, I just watched one on Youtube that was of interest: 1986 NBA Finals-Game 2- Boston Garden. The Celtics vs the Houston Rockets. The Rockets had just dispatched the Lakers with Magic & Kareem. With Olajawan & Sampson, the Twin Towers, they wanted to sneak one of two in Boston & go back to Houston for the next 3 games. Ha!

Being a lifelong Celtics fan having been born (but not raised) about 45 miles from the Garden in Worcester, I'll watch any of the Celtics games from the 60's 70's or 80's. Bird, McHale, Dennis Johnson, Robert Parrish, Danny Ainge, Bill Walton were in this particular game. Poor Bill Fitch (recent head coach of the Celts) knew what was in store for his Rockets after 5 minutes of the 2nd half. Bird goes 31-8 & 7, McHale -25, DJ-18 & so on.

It might interest TU Hoops fans that with 12 minutes left in the 4th Q., Fitch subs in some young guys to spark the club. One of them was rookie-Steve Harris. He looked kind of lost at first, but settled in & was all over court. 6 points & 3 rebounds. I don't know how he did the rest of the finals but I do know the Celtics won their umpteenth championship.

I remember that series because of Harris though he did not play a lot as I recall.
