I am flying back today from Vegas ending my vacation. I will in the air when this game starts so I will be watching on replay. Don’t have the bells and whistles today but I will tomorrow.

Todays games

All games are on ESPN+ except one

Tulsa at Temple, 12:00 pm
Tulane at FAU, 11:00 am, ESPNU
UTSA at SMU, 2:00 pm
USF at Charlotte, 3:00
Rice at Wichita St, 6:00 pm

UTSA beats SMU on the road. Honestly I think any team in this conference can beat any other team on a given night. The tournament should be wide open.

So far it’s been a road warrior day with three of the four visiting teams winning including USF winning their 15th straight game at Charlotte.

We hold advantages over Temple, Rice, & UTSA(record vs Charlotte) in tie breakers. There are two teams that have an advantage over us in tie breakers. They are Tulane and Wichita St. Even if they won today, which they didn't, Tulane is probably not going to tie us, so that is neither here nor there. Wichita St is the one team that holds an advantage, that they could take advantage of, if they tie us.

So them beating Rice is not a good thing for us, if we want the highest seed possible. If we beat USF it doesn't matter, we get the #9 seed. If we lose to USF which is more likely, the better thing for us is Rice beating USF with Rice's remaining schedule.

So suffice it to say, Wichita St beating Rice by 23 with 5m remaining, is not a good thing. We'll live another day with a chance at the #9 seed though. The midweek game when we are off, will be important to our chances at a higher seed.

I just want to play Thursday on TV rather than Wednesday on the +. If we have three or more of our players scoring we have a good chance to advance. If we have only one player besides PJ scoring we‘ll be watching from the sidelines Friday.

Great win on the road in Philly yesterday. That is the Men’s second Road win of the season. I believe they played well overall from start to finish. There were some WTF moments but overall it was a good win. The women beat down the SMOO as well to remain in a first-place tie for first in the American. They hold the Tie Breaker over North Texas. Currently The Tulsa Men are in the 9th Seed. If we beat USF we will remain the 9th Seed. If We lose and Rice wins both remaining games and Wichita State wins their last game then we are 11th. If Rice or Wichita state lose one game, even if we lose to USF we will stay out of the bottom 4 as we hold the tie breaker over Rice and we are one game ahead of the Shockers. South Florida is the only team that has locked in their seed.

Today’s games

UAB at Memphis
ECU at North Texas

Rice ain't goin' ta beat Charlotte & North Texas. We aren't going to be the 11th seed. My worry is Wichita St. They could knock us down from the 9th seed to the 10th. But playing the 9th seed compared to playing as the 10th is not that much of a difference. In fact playing as the 10th seed might even keep us in it for longer. All in all we probably will lose to E Carolina and/or N Texas in the first game.(pessimism: i'll try it on today) We'll see who has the inside track to the 7th/8th seed today with N Texas v E Carolina.

I think we beat ECU if we play them again
Don't know who to root for today with E Carolina & N Texas, seeing how it will be musical chairs with us and them for seeds 7-10. I think we have a better chance at beating E Carolina.

Well Charlotte definitely can't beat themselves but Rice on the other hand, you just don't know right now as they have been looking decent lately. I do believe that Rice will lose one of those games but not positive on that. We do need Tulane to Beat Wichita State. It is in New Orleans so I think we have a good shot at Tulane winning that game.

I would rather play East Carolina or Memphis in our first game then I would North Texas or the SMOOO. I think we match up better against both of those teams that we should have beaten earlier in the season.

The teams mentioned that no one wants to play the way they are playing currently are Memphis and UTSA. I hope Memphis doesn't win it all but they are better (talent-wise) than any other team and now playing like it. If they beat FAU at FAU, we might as well mail them the Tourney trophy. But there's always Penny who will find a way to blow it and the Dockery Finch board will explode with no NCAA again.

Oops on the Rice fan typo. Rice also just lost to Temple and Wichita St in their last two games. They are up and down. I don't think they are capable of putting it together, and beating them both.

Memphis was behind by over 20 points to UAB with 30 seconds to go in the half and now up by 15. ( 35 point turnaround with Kennedy ejected). I think Memphis easily wins the tournament though I wish otherwise.

I don’t think anything is going to be easy for Memphis. Respectfully disagree

Hopefully FAU will beat them at home, showing that that top dogs like USF & FAU will have a chance on a neutral court. They only beat FAU by 4 at home. So I don't think it will be so easy on the road. I have confidence that the tourney will not see Memphis running slipshod over everyone. They might win, they might not.

Memphis beats UAB 106-87. Moves Memphis to the 4 and UAB to the 6. All of those seedings are still up for grabs.

Missouri State beats UIC 69-59

Yea, SMU or UAB has a chance of dislodging Memphis from that top 4. They have a game against each other in the last game of the season, in Birmingham. So it would be one or the other possibly taking that 4 seed away from Memphis.(They both have two games remaining, unlike Memphis.)

meanwhile, in the women's tournament we have byes already.

It’s gonna be close 😂
If our opponents had just done better we would be considered right there with Iowa, Kansas State and Texas A&M. ;) If only Mississippi Valley State had beaten LSU, OU, and UCONN, our big win against them might have made the difference.

USF is playing really well right now. Scary to think if they don't win the conference tourney they may be left out of postseason play altogether now that the NIT is a for profit entity run entirely by the P5 conferences.

loca: Question: Now that UAB beat Temple, who will get that 3rd and 4th seed? Charlotte is 3 if they win at ECU, but SMU , Memphis, and UAB look tied. I just hope FAU beats Memphis this weekend. It will keep FAU as an at-large. Just hoping Memphis stumbles in tournament. Lunardi today says Memphis should win AAC tournament. If Tulsa can't win it, then I hope FAU and USF are our representatives in the big dance.

R with rice losing to Charlotte yesterday we can no longer be in the bottom 4. Now if Wichita State loses to Tulane on Friday then we lock in the 9 seed even if we lose
There is three ways we can come out with a #9 seed:

1.) Wichita loses no matter what we do.
2.) We win no matter what Wichita does.

3.) Tulsa and UTSA lose/Wichita & Rice Win. Three way tie: Tulsa/Wichita/Rice.
Mini Conference records: Tulsa 3-1(.750)/ Wichita 2-1(.667)/ Rice 0-3(.000)

In a three way tie we need it to be Rice & not UTSA. In a 4 way tie we lose out to Wichita.
No matter what, we get the #9 or #10 seed. As you said, we can't drop to #11 now.(last four)

That said I would love to beat USF at home and have a two game winning streak going into Fort Worth

I'm afraid that we're gonna lose and all three of those teams are going to win, which puts us in a four way tie. That gives it to Wichita. That's the way I see it happening.

Tulane inexplicably made a flagrant 2 with ejection and flagrant 1 within a 2 minute span when they had a 11 point lead. Dumb.

I don’t think Wichita can play from behind though. They showed that at TU.
