Tulsa has their last two games at home. Tonight they face Wichita State. Saturday they will host UCF. It would be nice to get a couple of wins going into the tourney.

The women are playing their last game of the season. Their tournament starts on March 7th. They are on the road to face UCF (NET 23). They could use some momentum going into the tourney.

Also no Maya Mayberry but hopefully she will be ready for the tournament. We need some bigs it is our biggest issue. The announcers were very complimentary about how TU played them tougher than anyone lately. They said teams should be concerned about TU in the tournament if we are shooting well.

Well here we are again after another avoidable loss. We have one more regular season game to go and apparently they are having Fan appreciation night at the Reynolds Center on Sunday.

With that loss we have slipped down in the standings. We are now dead last.

I am late getting this in as some of the games have started. Little Rock stunned the Sun Belt Tournament today by beating South Alabama and moving to the next round.

One of our “not talented” players from last year Keshawn Williams is now averaging 16 per game and has scored in double figures in 25/30 games this year

Keyshawn was very talented. Was he supposed to get Joiner's minutes last year? He decided he wants to be closer to home or at least we were told. My comments re talent are related to what Frank can recruit and keep and it is not AAC talent.
Keyshawn would be our best player this year by far.
However, remember he is 'tearing it up' at NIU. Not American conference competition.

Yooler has made it to the Quarterfinals of the Sun Belt tournament where they face the 4 seed Troy. Southern Illinois lost to Drake and LMU got blasted by BYU. I have now taken them off the GOI post as they are no longer contenders to get into the tournament. The conferences are finishing up their regular season games this weekend to start the tournaments all week including the American both Men’s and Women’s.

With that said I have done something I normally don’t do on a GOI post. I am posting two teams we have no connection with at all. That would be the 5 p.m. Matchup when North Carolina plays Duke at Cameron Indoor Arena. Why am I posting this, this is Coach K’s last home game with Duke. Mike Krzyzewski started his coaching career the same year I was born (1974). My whole life he has been the face of college basketball. You cant talk to anyone about the game of college basketball and not bring him into it at some point. I just hope they televise some good stuff on him before the game.

We have one conference game as Wichita State travels to Greenville to take on East Carolina. This game is significant as if Wichita State wins it will keep the same matchup for the conference tournament just different seeds. If East Carolina wins then they will have a better record than Cincinnati and that will move East Carolina in the 7 seed who would face Tulsa. That is if South Florida loses to temple on Sunday.

Some of the seedings are set and some are not. They will all be decided this weekend.

Loca - I have lived in NC 3 times. 85, 88-01 and 11 to present. I have been around several people who are close to Coach K (my former CEO sits right behind him at every home game). Not only has he been the face of college BB he is generally a very nice person.

I won’t share stories from a CEO who as you would expect as a major donor Coach K would be nice to him. I will share the story of a bus driver who I hired many years ago to take a group for a retreat at the Greenbrier. He drove the Duke team to games at UNC, NCSU and WF. He told me anytime Coach K would see him around Durham regardless of the situation he would always greet him and spend time asking about his family. Also on a couple of occasions people have told me they were showing out of town family or friends around the campus. These people did not know Coach K but when he passed them he asked if they were enjoying the campus and took pictures with each. He will be missed by college BB.

College basketball will not be the same when there is a new coach at Duke. Great story. He just seems like a real down to earth type of guy. To me he has shown that in his pressers and on the court.
