Bite your tongue! We should be tanking for that #1 draft pick...oh wait, college teams can't draft.

Maybe that's the answer to the portal. Players who enter it have the option of the last rated team picking up their scholarship and adding them and if they don't want to go there then they return to their current school and must wait until the next year to re-enter the portal. They want to be FA and treated like such, then there should be a waiver wire type of option for other schools.

Yesterday was just not the way to start off the new year. We all know it is a rebuilding year so we just have to take our medicine and support the guys who continue to fight. The thing I liked about the game yesterday is the guys kept battling when they could have easily just gave in.

Temple beat Cincinnati by 9 at home.
Tulane put 96 on Memphis and beat them by 7 at home.

As of last week Lunardi had every Big12 team in the tourney. Won’t happen because they will beat up on each other in conference play but it shows how good those teams were in OOC top to bottom. 8-10 and maybe 7-11 getting you to the dance.

Yesterday Jackson State edged out Alcorn State by 1. Alabama State beat Miss. Valley State by 9. Oklahoma State beat #24 West Virginia by 7

Only one game today with Miami of Ohio traveling to Central Michigan who is coming off a huge win at Michigan.

I know this isn’t regarding basketball but a tragic event unfolded in Cincinnati last night as a young man is in the hospital fighting for his life off a routine tackle. This man’s life is more important than the game and I commend the league for shutting the game down. I hope this man makes a full recovery. Whether or not he plays football again is something else altogether. Life is precious and you have to preserve it. That said, the NFL is a business and the business will continue. They along with the NFLPA have a lot of discussions to conduct in the next couple of days on what to do. With next week being the last week of the season it probably will not be made up unless they do it today or tomorrow.

Word is the young man had a heart attack. It’s unusual in a young athlete but not unheard of. The same thing happened to a player on the Denmark (I think) soccer team last year. He was jogging back down the field and just collapsed. His heart attack was minor and he returned to play several weeks later. I hope this young man’s prognosis is similar.
