Starting to think the OSU fans were right about Bill Young, horrific appearance. Positive point , offense looked pretty good today

Looks like they made a lot of changes during the game. Christian Williams was in for Jordan Mitchell, Diamon Cannon for Mckinley Whitfield, and looks like Allie Green was in for Kerwin.. Also Petera got a lot of playing time for Cooper in the 2nd half.. Arr these the changes we need?

Forgive my ignorance, I've never played a snap of football competitively. How much of an impact does the defensive scheme and coordinator make vs. the quality of athlete on the field? Is it 50/50? Or 80/20?

I believe 80/20 you can have every top athlete in the country without a good scheme you won't see results.

I posted this on the pay board:

We gave up 596 yards to LALA. LALA only had 363 yards against Southeastern Louisiana State.
Our Defense gave up 640 against Oklahoma State, who only manged 505 against Southern Alabama.

We are 129th in FBS total defense.

I know high scoring offenses can siphon off the best athletes and put pressure on our own defense (if each team has twice as many possessions...), but 129th?

Who is #55, played hard but thought he looked like more of a linebacker then defensive lineman

DT is one of those spots where you typically don't want to play true freshmen. We're playing a lot of young and inexperienced kids on the defensive side of the ball and it shows. Young players tend to think rather than react which makes them a step slow. I anticipate we will look a lot better by mid-season.
