8 of 11 players have asked for releases (from an 0-18 team in the ACC). No matter what, that’s a long road to rebuild.

Would be interesting to know how many coach changes actually work out well and how long it takes when they do. Since it’s a zero sum game, my guess is most don’t help much but I don’t know. I suspect the “magic turnaround” is pretty rare.

Are any of them worthy players to take a look at? How many end up at UCONN and SMU

I doubt we’d be interested in a guard now but we finished 2nd to Juco Danya Kingsby. He was scheduled to visited Tulsa but don’t recall if he did or committed to Pitt 1st.

Wonder how Pitt feels now about letting Jamie Dixon get away?

I think we need another guard. I don’t think Kingsby ever made it on campus.

Yep, the risk of cutting loose Haith. Or Tubby.

On average, teams are worse in their first year under a new coach and then back to their recent historical average from the second year on. We saw that when we fired Wojcik. Pitt will be back to an annual bubble team in 2020.

He's not happy for some reason at South Carolina, so it was kind of expected you'd hear his name pretty soon.

I would imagine So. Carolina would jump on Boynton/OSU if Martin leaves for UConn. I personally think Martin is a mess.

I think Martin wants his team to be the focal point of attention at a school. He obviously didn't get that at K-State, and even after making a Final Four at So. Carolina, his team probably ranks 4th in on campus importance there behind football, women's basketball, and baseball. At UCONN, he would be behind the women's basketball team only.

Martin has been a very interesting during March madness. Had no idea him and Tubby were so close. Wasn't a fan of his coaching persona but listening to him the last few weeks has won me over.

Martin is a bright guy actually. He does seem to want the best for his players in all aspects of life and not just basketball. He's also going to use whatever coaching tactics he can to make sure you understand your role and what he needs you to do in order for the player and team to be successful. I think that is where people mistakenly think he is a raving mad lunatic.

Xavier now looking for a head coach. Chris Mack to Louisville. Why anyone would want that job right now when it is staring a 1-2 year postseason ban and significant scholarship reductions...just puzzling.

Yea, fans will have no patience with losing despite the restrictions and be calling for the coaches head as the year before they are able to get things back on track.

7 year contract at $4m per. The upside of their situation Is that it gets him a contract that will almost take him to retirement if he wants (he’ll be 55 when the contract terminated).

Guess they added 2 years for what they're expecting to come down from the NCAA. He probably insisted. That's a pretty long 1st contract

Ask Danny Manning how coaching in the ACC is working out for him. He may be making $2M per but he's going to get fired after another season like this past one. Same with Kevin Stallings. He had it pretty nice at Vandy. There are 6 schools that can win the ACC every year, the rest are hoping for that 7-10 range to avoid getting fired. Heck, Boeheim is struggling to be an actual contender in the ACC. And realistically, there are only 4 schools that will be there year in and year out: Duke, UNC, Notre Dame, and Virginia (I'd put Louisville in this group but we know that's a ground up rebuild with the issues they have the sanctions headed that way). NC State, VaTech, Clemson had nice teams this year, but they aren't yearly contenders for the title. Everyone else is an also ran

Chris Mack is 100x better coach than Danny Manning in both recruiting and Xs and Os.

Plus Louisville is still a name brand, I don’t foresee the FBI investigation reducing players interests in going there. Unless there’s an extended probation.
