I saw an article where Memphis basketball attendance was 16,000 in 2014 under Josh Pastner (taking over for Calapari) but dropped to around 6225 under Tubby Smith, the lowest in 50 years. After making a coaching change to Penny Hardaway (love him or hate him), the attendance jumped to an average of 14,085. You can say coaching changes do not affect attendance but look no further. The same thing happened here going from Jim King to Nolan Richardson................. You can say there was no TV under Nolan but there is plenty of TV with Penny Hardaway and the place has exploded with fans compared to Tubby days there.
