American Tournament Thread

Seriously, why isn't Ritchie in the game?

GAME. SET. MATCH.

Let's start a NEW COACH thread in earnest because it needs to happen.

PATHETIC!!! ABSO F'N LUTEYL PATHETIC!!!

Put em on the bus and go home!! Don't waste another penny on these guys!!!

I have to admit, between Haith and Monty at the beginning of the season , I thought we would have this conversation more about Monty , guess I was wrong

I’m going to try and refrain from shouting “I TOLD YOU SO FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS!”

...wait...crap... sorry

Good games from several of our players. Rachal had 21 points and 14 boards, Joiner had 16 points and 12 assists, KES has 12 points and was 3/4 from deep but the mistakes killed us As Tulane had 17 points off turnovers.

Hopefully we do not have a bunch of seniors that want to come back!! They showed no effort.

I just don't agree with most of you... Our talent is poor. Bench coaching ok not great but the main problem is talent. I am amazed we won 11 games with our talent.
This teams only chance from the time it was recruited and built was to excel from the three point line. Kind of like ORU. We have no inside game and our slashers are weak at best. It is made of of 8 , off guards and they are average.
The biggest issue for me with Frank is recruiting. Not sure why, judge of talent or lack of assistants to evaluate and bring in the goods.
Sad year.

Fitting end for this group
A big big thank you to Joiner , Rachael and Jackson for playing your asses off for Tulsa
University . Unfortunately it takes FIVE on the court contributing to have a successful
season . The future isn’t bright with the scraps left on that table and excuse me but I
would have to release some of these rummies off their scholarships because the level
of competition in the AAC is over their heads .

A sad end to a sad season
At least Haith is toast

Those seniors (joiner / Jackson) worked their tails off for 4 seasons. Kudos to them.

Agreed. Definitely didn't intend it to come across as if they didn't deserve better. Just fitting in terms of how the season has gone.

It's nice to have a five star player to help you out as in Gilbert.

Not the AAC, but Kansas is now out of the Big XII tournament because of a positive COVID test. Virginia is out of the ACC tournament because of a positive COVID test. Pastner's GaTech team is in the finals via default. Fla St made the semi's because Duke COVID'd out. Here's the issue...there is no way Virginia or Kansas can honestly be included in the NCAA tournament field because there's no way they can wait the 7 days, isolated, no basketball, and clear tests and be to Indiana in time. My guess is if another couple of blue bloods or big name conference schools end up in trouble, the NCAA will simply postpone the entire tournament a week or two and just reschedule OR cancel it altogether as they'd never allow teams from the AAC or A10 to take those spots and money.

There's the Alterique Gilbert we know and love. Dribble around for 20 seconds and chuck up a contested 3 for an airball.

USF playing nervous though. But they will have the last possession with a chance to win.

I just calculated and if 51 more teams COVID out, we are on the bubble.

Wouldn't that depend on if any of the other players are positive. If it's just the one person, they just isolate that guy and as long as no one else tests positive, they're good to go. As far as I've heard, both Virginia and kansas both only had the one positive. NCAA has already come out and said you just need 5 players able to play in the tournament

The conferences are dropping the teams for COVID-19 positives for the conference tourney. The NCAA said that they would only replace a team during the first 48 hours after selection. If there is a positive test then that player is excluded. As long as a team has 5 healthy players then the team can play

They will not cancel the tourney this year for any reason. They lost a ton of money last year and can’t afford another cancellation. They don’t care who gets the tournament credits, this tourney is a major part of financing the NCAA.
