Rylie Spell had a double and threw out a runner stealing 2nd
Tulsa used 3 pitchers
Emily Watson started and pitched the first 2 innings 1 Hit 0 Runs 0 BB and 3 K
Madison Higley pitched 2.1 with 3 ER 4 Hits 1 BB and 1 K
Haley Meinen pitched 1.2 with 0 Runs 2 Hits 1 BB and 1 K

Again not wasting my money on subscription television so I'm not sure if it was mentioned or any speculation why the pitching work was spread out and not given to the Ace against the regional ranked 24/RV rival. I can only assume that has something to do with a key conference match up this weekend and not anything to worry about Watson. Also noticeable that Lexi Blevins did not make an appearance making me concerned about her again.

I'm not a softball guy but if it's anything like college baseball then midweek games are often used to get down staff pitchers and young position players game experience. Which is why most people don't place much weight in the results of mid-week games.

The biggest difference is the ability for softball pitchers to pitch multiple full games in a weekend. Baseball pitcher throws 6 innings and they are not available for at least 2 days afterwards. My guess would be trying to bring some of the other pitchers along against some tougher competition. TU has won enough games against some good quality teams that they will be pretty solidified into the NCAA field.

On the baseball thing...ORU tries to win all of those mid week games against teams like OU and OSU.

You're correct. ORU doesn't face much competition in the Summit so they want to see their weekend guys against quality lineups. Plus....helps their RPI to beat those teams.

Rain suspends game 1 after 9 innings score is 0-0 but will pick up where we left off Friday at 4, game 2 to follow.

Watson has 19 K which will set a club record. Tulsa only has 1 hit.

How did we do yesterday

TU won game 1 1-0 in 10, Watson went the whole way and struck out 21. TU won game 2 4-3 and rallied back to win late. Watson picked up the save in that one. Watson picked up the save in game 3 as well, TU won 7-3 after giving up 2 quick runs in the first. Meinen came in in the 3rd and picked up the win. Meinen seemed to be pretty solid this weekend. I don't think Blevins pitched at all so there is probably some injury concern. The other pitcher (can't remember her name) started game 3 and wasn't terribly effective giving way to Meinen in the 2nd. Some clutch hitting in game 3 as TU finally seemed to pick up some hits with runners in scoring position.

3 game sweep of a key series for TU which puts them in control of the regular season conference race right now.

Hopefully this is a sign that the extra base hit drought is improving.

Higley seems to be struggling in the circle. Meinen seems to be very capable in short spurts. Watson is virtually untouchable. The top 4 in the lineup may be as good as anyone right now.
