OSU Game Thread

Early going.... TU's secondary has been deficient so far this season, and it's showing again today. On the other side Francis isn't throwing on target and the kicker can't kick.

Grade A program building.
I like how the announcer called out Wilson’s play calling , “ you aren’t going to win this game with field goals “. I’m all for giving a coach 3 years to build a program so I’m not on the fire him train yet , but he needs to act a little more “ alive “ about playing winning football, not just treating TU as a “ retirement gig”

I am one of those who thought we should have not gone with GJ Kinne. I still believe I was correct. It's not that he isnt a good coach. It's that there was no way of knowing how good of a coach he would be. He is just too green. To take that big of a risk on a hire just wasnt smart. You would be putting a green coach into a complete rebuild mode at a school that has higher academic standards. I think Wilson was the right choice to change things around. Do I think he will take us to the top? I have no clue but we needed someone who has been through turnarounds before. Could get the ship at least righted. Could have GJ Kinne done that??? Maybe...but that is the point. He has no prior opportunites to show that he can and that is a hard person to stake your school's program on. After Texas St he might be worth that chance now. I still say he needs a couple more years.
Instead we go with someone with tons of experience. So much experience, in fact, that he has proven that he can't get the job done already at one school. (Retread)

If Kinne keeps doing what he's doing at Texas St, there's no way we will be able to afford him. If he starts failing then we won't want him. Essentially that ship has sailed.

At least we attracted a good pool of candidates to replace Montgomery.

2 of our 3 finalists (Kinne & Odom) are 2 of the hottest young coaches in the country right now!

Let’s hope Wilson makes us forget “what could’ve been” feelings by turning things around here soon.

OSU at TU Soldout

I have 4 OSU friends who will be in attendance. In order to get their tickets, they had to purchase minipaks, so they will be returning to watch us play Army in Oct and ECU in Nov. So it’s kind of a win in that way. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong, but I think all the OSU tickets were minipaks.
I’m sure this is the case. We also do that in seasons when we play OU at home.

When in doubt, TU should hire the risky up and comer and let the excitement play out. Either it works and we enjoy a run until they're hired away, or we have some crappy seasons and move on when the hope fades. Hell, maybe we find a unicorn and it actually sticks...but I'd be happy with hope and excitement for a while.

(Wilson needs time to play this out, but I didn't feel it was an exciting hire. I'd love to change that feeling today! 🙂)

The ticket office only sold season tickets and mini packs for today’s game.

You can still get individual tickets for as low as $25 on Seat Geek today.

646-385, Arkansas total yards to OSU, TU could win if?

Last week I posted that TU was going to have a “tough” game against ASU. All the homers bashed those comments. I knew that ASU didn’t play 4-5 starting lineman against UCA.

Two to three critical plays cost TU the game. Strip out 2-3 plays. It drives coaches insane. Looking at OSU. Arkansas absolutely wiped OSU all over the floor except on the scoreboard. Here are 5 keys to a TU victory:

1. Bringing Carnell off the bench more to add another dimension to the chess match.
2. Clean up the special teams. No missed kicks and kicking game defenders stay in their lanes.
3. Minimal penalties.
4. A consistent push up front and having solid running game.
5. A credible run defense. The OSU line is very well coached, very big, but they start 5 offensive guards.

Any team can be beat. Any team. I was glued to the Northern Illinois/Notre Dame last Saturday. OSU just doesn’t see this coming.

TU 31-28 over OSU in a thriller.

So y'all can look forward to a sea of pukey-orange <BLECH>.

This post is the hope of USMNT vs true apathetic reality

I was camping when the US played Canada and NZ so I just watched the games yesterday. I hate to see Pulisic on the field with this cast of characters, it’s just an invitation to injury. If we ever see Johnny on the field in a game that counts I will start calling for the heads of the coaching staff, that guy is pitiful. The guy with the fuzzy hair against NZ is just as bad. I don’t know why but I like Haji Wright and Pepi is looking better.
