Honestly, I love this for the girls that can't / won't make it to an NL team in Tulsa.
Will be interesting to see what the current ECRL girls at WSA do…assuming most lost their spots to TSC NL girls. A number of them are at WSA due to a distaste for Barry. Will the swallow hard and move back to TSC for GA or continue to play Texas league ECRL. Which is a slightly better league than the regional GA league. I also don’t believe we have the quality of depth in Tulsa to field both a competitive ECRL and GA team.

That may be true.

It’s wild to me how polarizing a single person can be in such a small community.

I think that will be a bad idea. But you do, you boos.
I doubt WSA is pulling a ton of players from OEFC, most of their players will come from within WSA and TSC. Most of TSC’s available players have already been training or contacted WSA, and they know who their current players are. April makes sense to me.

It’s not just WSA, almost all ECNL clubs will have their rosters largely set prior to “tryouts”. Just the way it is. Coaches are now being contacted and game film is being sent.

@lawpoke, I saw your FB post about JM's response to an inaccurate letter sent by the TSC boys director, presumably to parents/players currently playing ECNL there. Dear god is there not anything TSC will say to besmirch any of the other clubs.

BTW, I went to the FC Tulsa/Tulsa Athletics match last night. I spoke to one of my son's old coaches at Blitz. He said the partnership with FC Tulsa has been in the works for quite some time. He also said TSC offered the ECNL boys to Blitz/FC Tulsa recently but they didn't approve. He said one of the reasons they didn't do it was because they were afraid it would look like a merger with TSC and it's 100% not that. Blitz also knows TSC will lose the boys NL next year at the latest and FC Tulsa will apply for it at that time and they anticipate getting it. I asked if the youth side would be adopting the FC Tulsa kits and not this year. They just signed a long term deal with Capelli. He did say he believes FC Tulsa will sign with Capelli after the current season ends as uniform deals at that level are usually 1 yr deals. Additionally, he does expect that FC Tulsa Academy uniforms will align with the pro group uniforms after the next uniform cycle. He did say the uniform deal with Capelli gets teams free entries into 2 Capelli sponsored showcases each year. That's pretty significant. Of course we discussed Capelli's track record of not being able to provide uniform kits on time to start the season and he said club management addressed that as well.

One last note...why the hell is Tulsa Athletic still playing at Hicks Park. It's awful. You couldn't make a pass roll along the ground so lots of mistouches throughout the game. I'm sure the Athletics faithful love the intimacy but they have a solid club and deserve better. A better facility puts them in a better league (and the last time they played in NPSL they won the whole thing but were kicked out because Hicks Park doesn't meet minimum specs. So know they're playing in UPSL which is a lower quality league. I'm actually shocked US Open Cup allows them to play games at Hicks.

Can’t see that. Is it the Jm post?
Yes, in response to a TSC admin sending out pretty blatantly false information about Greenwood and MLS Next.

BTW, in speaking with a local youth club coach last night, I asked about the no HS soccer and he said that Greenwood will just roster the kids who want to play HS on the MLS NextGo side but use them as club passed players in the higher games. He said it's shady but unless MLS Next catches on then they'll get away with it.

Yeah, that letter is pretty outrageous.

I never understood why people blatantly lie about easily provable things.

I’ve done this youth soccer thing a long time. Most of us seasoned soccer parents have been “misled” by clubs at best and flat out lied to at worst. They typically are a little more discreet about their misinformation. A ECNL coach sending outright lies to parents and players in writing is something which even surprises a cynical soccer parent like myself. Which is why I took the step to share it. Shame on Tony and TSC. The Tulsa soccer community is small. Now everyone sees TSC and Tony as a blatant liar. Just an awful for look.

I’m under no misconception as to what most clubs are and what they do. They try to intimidate whenever it suits them. Especially if your kid isn’t elite. TSC’s attitude has cost them multiple elite players over the past several years. There are now 4 of the best 6 2010s playing at other clubs. Hopefully WSA can change that dynamic.

I was told high school waivers are available to MLS Next players. No idea what that entails or if there’s a limit to their number.

So my Blitz contact thinks TSC will be no more in 3 yrs or less.

My understanding was that MLS next waivers are for privates schools that require someone to play a sport in high school.

I think the league even has to approve it and it has to be signed by the school too stating they require the play.

Blitz will use that to recruit against them. We are Oklahoma. High school is everything here! Yeehaw!

Blitz plays in a third tier ECNL platform league. They aren’t recruiting the anywhere close to the same kids as Greenwood.

Agree that it appears the exception will apply to private school players only.

if they are out there preaching they are getting ECNL NL boys, they will preach come here and get our brilliance and play high school soccer.

I guarantee they will hold it over them.

Might work WHEN and IF they get NL. None of those boys are going to play Frontier league. Looking forward to the battle between FC Tulsa and WSA for boys NL next year

As we have mentioned on here, the talent at the top level is thinner in Tulsa than in other markets. In Dallas, they would get to just divide it up and move on.

Here they have to fight for the players and make up junk.

They will start talking noise on Greenwood and John Michael soon enough. They are just biding their time. It will happen. It is club soccer. Politics is inevitable.

Whomever thinks WSA and Blitz are some kind of above politics actors are delusional. Blitz is now the second for profit club in Tulsa. WSA runs 8 thousand "tournaments" a year with brackets that 80% - 100% of their teams to pay their coaches and Roger Bush on the backs. Self before side. That is the truth of the matter. You can market it otherwise but that is the reality.

Greenwood will eventually start hurting egos when they cut players, which will make players and parents mad. They will believe that they should have been taken over others and start talking noise on the coaches and saying how it isn't all sunshine and rainbows over there despite their social media presence.

Their coaches will be intense at games and refs will start saying they are meanypants.

These are just my predictions. I could be wrong.

I have extensive experience as a player and referee. Now, little as a young parent and totally rec Part-time coach. I know administrators in multiple markets. There are no people that have a grasp of everything. None. Zero. It is constant drama. Everywhere. It is too funny.

I was watching YouTube video yesterday about the bad parts youth development in American soccer and this guy was from Chattanooga, TN professing to be some expert. I really wanted to be interviewed opposite him and tell him just how dead wrong he was.

I am digressing.

I guess I am saying. Some of this is just pontificating. There is a lot to shake out in the next year. A lot of it is going to be really, really ugly for a particular group and they aren't making it better.

Others I don't think it will be as good as they are marketing it to be but I could be wrong.
