Oh and I asked him about the girls and he said maybe lol

Also: they’re going to have academy aged teams as well. He said the goal remains the same: get the kids ready to leave Tulsa and go on to bigger things.
Just a feeling that TSC finds a way to get GA. TSC is about to have a couple of their boys age groups absolutely gutted btw

Honestly, if I were TSC: if I got GA, I’d probably double down on the girls side. Not totally abandon the boys side, but I’d give boys side level resources to the girls.

It’s a phenomenal place but I heard the owners were asking a ton for it.
It has potential but the new owners need to decide what the identity is...is it a soccer complex or is it multisport? I used to play in a softball league out there and the fields were great for that. When TSC got them to dump the softball and essentially let them know they'd keep the fields full year round and pay for it, they got rid of the leagues. What All Star never did and honestly it ruined the complex's value as a soccer complex was remove all the stupid fencing and backstops. If they had done that they could have made some actual game worthy fields out there.

Honk, as far as the RC...did the girl from the other team also see Red? Your description makes it sound like there was violent conduct on both sides (VC would be the technical red card code when reporting it). All of the RCs I've seen in youth soccer have been for violent conduct OR yellow accumulation. I don't think I've ever seen a straight red for serious foul play in my time as a referee at that level. Maybe an occasional DOGSO but at this age, we tend to be more reserved on those unless it's a highly competitive game and an upper platform, certainly not in a weekend, early season tournament like Celtic Cup. BUT, violent conduct every time.

Here's the problem with red cards in stand alone tournaments like this...referees fill out a report with USSF. It's pretty damn formal. We have to input our referee number (these are more complicated than most of the passwords you use on any computer), and there's a whole process and style of writing you have to follow. Sure, she missed the next game of the tournament, but if this player, as you said, has been involved in a few of these scrapes over the course of the year, really TSC, ECNL, or whatever league the team is playing in, should be suspending her for a period of time, including training and games. The process is there within USSF and US Youth and US Club both have policies that follow USSF but you rarely see it upheld because there's a lot of tracking and leg work needed to coordinate those efforts. I'll use an experience I am familiar with...BA Express 06s used to get a lot of RCs for violent conduct. They'd get 2-3 kids thrown out from a tournament final on Sunday, but they'd be back out there the next weekend in a league game. I know for a fact that their team received 6 RCs in a 2 week span. One game I was watching as a parent of a player playing against them, a week later in a league game they got 2 additional RCs for violent conduct. I knew about these 2 because the coach needed the referees to sign that the players were present but weren't suited up or rostered for the game as proof of their sitting out. In that game as an AR, another kid received a RC for throwing a punch (this kid also got a RC in the aforementioned tournament final). Then they all played again in another tournament the following weekend. Point is, the leagues and sanctioning bodies need to do better when it comes to tracking the accumulation of RCs and the sanctions need to be lengthy, especially for multiple violent conduct offenses.

And the sanction for club officials who come storming into the ref tournament at the tournament they're hosting to demand a RC be rescinded for a coach who lost his freaking mind on the referee needs to be harsh as well. Had that interaction happened after this past Saturday, they're looking at a hefty sanction from USSF as the new penalties for ref abuse are in full effect now.

Both players were sent off with a RC.

It was honestly the most violent scrap I’ve seen that kid have. Sometimes kids get into a shoving match. Whatever. But when kicks and punches are thrown, that deserves a red for sure. It’s trash behavior.

Fighting.

This was probably this girls 4th or 5th scrap on the field of the season. It was embarrassing.

Girls were being physical, whatever. So I guess our player got her hair pulled. Then she got fouled pretty hard and grabbed the other girls hair in the way down and started kicking the fouler. The, our girl got up, grabbed the other girl by the hair and started hitting her in the face.

Then, since they couldn’t play our morning game, they didn’t come, not even to support.

My kid got a yellow for chirping the ref. Idk what she was saying exactly, but she was arguing a call and I guess she got a little carried away. I don’t mind a yellow if it’s worth it, but chirping the ref isn’t a time that it’s worth it IMO.
Fighting on the field constantly gets old.

It's played out.

I'm not going to act like I haven't been in dumb scraps for even more dumb reasons. I'm not here to say you shouldn't defend yourself. But I am saying this: In a physical sport, you gotta chill and understand that you're gonna get fouled. Control yourself, control your emotions and play the game.

And if you're a parent: Do better. Try to raise your kids in a way where their emotions aren't going to get them in trouble.

OK...I didn't know if the previous scrapes you mentioned were RC offenses but even still, multiple yellows for the same behaviour...most leagues have a YC accumulation suspension. My son's college club team lost a vital player for their QF matchup because of YC accumulation (3 YCs over the 1st 3 games). It really hurt them. Even in the WC, 2 yellow cards in group play and that guy is sitting (and it actually might be 2 YCs before you hit the semi finals....they don't get wiped out even if you move into the knockout stage). EPL I think is 5 YCs, and you sit then it gets wiped for that player. Point is, at the youth levels, we don't do a very good job of keeping track across the many different platforms and competition levels so you never see any discipline for poor behavior or overly aggressive or reckless playing style over an accumulation.

And I will say this...as a referee, I don't go looking for reasons to hand out cards. And I don't know of referees who are out there to be vindictive...I'm sure they exist but cards are used to help regain control of the game or calm the edge on both sides. Heck, apparently last week at a HS match, my fellow referee thought I should have shown a card to a player on a certain foul for persistent infringement. I hadn't even noticed he had been involved in multiple crazy challenges. (This is a problem with a 2 man crew and 2 whistles which you will see frequently in early season HS soccer..he noted a couple of fouls on that player in the 1st half...I had 2 on him in the 2nd...a single center R probably has this noted in his head and 4 fouls would definitely get cautioned).

Any keeper parents on this thread? What do you all think about the new rule coming in July about keepers having 8 seconds to release the ball after gaining control or it will be a violation and a corner kick awarded?

So Greenwood is going to build a complex and WSA is going to build a $50m complex on an old dump site? Where is all the $$ coming from??? Greenwood foundation going to build JM’s? In the meantime where are these people going to practice and play games?

JM has a private equity firm backing him. IDK about WSA. Where was that announced?

So what WSA wants to build on the west bank is great...but it's gonna cost $20M just to clean the industrial waste off the site and then backfill it with clean soil. They probably need to remove about several feet of the soil that is on top now. Even if they can get that done, they would then have to run additional infrastructure (or improve what is there significantly. Water and sewer pipes, add irrigation, add a building with actual bathrooms, concessions, club officials and referees building, and much improved parking. And probably some additional electricity infrastructure to get working lights. Then build fields.

And even if you get that done...you can never stop the fumes and stench from the refinery from infiltrating the complex. And when the wind blows from the north...whew

WSA has a plan on what they want to do at West Bank...I've never heard where the money was coming from though.
I think WSA has had private donors for at least 50% of that build for almost 2 years, the club just needed to come up with the remaining amount.

I'm not looking forward to West Bank.

I would bet Wsa gets a fundraising boost now they have NL

Greenwood should be good to go financially

So I misspoke about the irrigation. My understanding is the plan is for all turf out there (unless something has changed). Right now that complex is no better than Union Soccer Club's Boevers complex in terms of turf quality, parking, and overall facility. So if they get that done, then the teams will be on all turf fields which will be nice but unfortunate as I am convinced turf is terrible for soccer as a whole but especially for female soccer players.

I don't love turf and neither does my daughter, but for her it's about the heat. That's why she insists on white cleats with white plates. She's doing everything she can to not be miserable lol

I’m pretty firm on my opinion that post puberty, girls should avoid turf when possible

It’s unfortunate that they see a lot of it in ECNL.
Because the only weather you have to avoid when playing on turf is a thunderstorm. Rain- can always play. Even snow and ice, you can probably play (see Scheel's in KC where the fields are heated). You get less cancellations on turf and we all know when trying to manage game cancellations because of weather and you've got teams from 2-8 hours away, it's an absolute nightmare in trying to get games rescheduled.
