MLS next really starts at u13s. That means they have like 1 or 2 teams right now. I am sure some boys are going to want to be available for that though at younger ages.

I have some friends right now whose son plays at TSC in NL and they're celebrating this announcement for him.

That’s my understanding
This is good for the high level kids in Tulsa but it also fractures Tulsa youth soccer even more than it is. And it may even have some kids from NW Arkansas and OKC coming over to be a part of it. I mean TSC had some of those kids anyway but it in the numbers this might entice.

Also, anyone in the know, do we know if FC Tulsa is going to try to get involved in this? I don't know what the dynamics are considering they fired Nsien from their coaching gig but it was purely performance based. Were there hard feelings after that went down?

As of now there will be no FC Tulsa involvement. This also will prevent any Oklahoma kids from playing MLS Next with other clubs.

With USL division 1 pro league I don’t know that FC Tulsa could touch this.

So I am ignorant of the dynamics surrounding this statement. Does this mean a kid in Durant couldn't go and play MLS Next in Dallas and would have to instead drive the 3 hrs to Tulsa to play MLS NeXT

Depends on the exact territory which was granted to Greenwood but yes….MLS Next clubs are granted exclusive territories. Players who live within that territory are required to play for the club granted said territory. Clubs can work deals amongst themselves for players but those are the general rules as I understand them. I was also told there might be instances where the best players here are allowed to go play for other MLS clubs but I’m uncertain of those specifics or if they’ve been worked out. Since we don’t have an MLS parent team things are a bit different than say FC Dallas

So that means all the kids from Tulsa playing out of
State will be coming home?
I’m not sure about that. Those kids have already signed contracts with MLS Next clubs. My guess is those existing contracts supersede any newly granted territory.

MLS club do some funky stuff regarding players, or potential players.

Teams can “lock” players. So if sporting KC locks a Tulsa kid, that kid can’t go to fc Dallas and play, without a fee of course.

Is it safe to assume that kids who sign with an MLS Academy aren't under the same MLS Next territory rules. I know several Tulsa kids who have signed with Sporting KCs academy in the past as that is a pipeline to their MLS squad (the team hopes). Would MLS Next link that

I don't know about that.

I do know that a local kid went on trial or whatever with Sporting KC and even though they didn't want him *yet*, they were able to lock him so he couldn't go to any other MLS team without Sporting KC getting paid and / or giving approval.

That kid does not play on an MLS Next squad.

That explains how they got a guy from Racing Louisville FC to be a part of their staff as the Technical Director.

Is Sporting OK for regular MLS Next or MLS Next Go because their announcement keeps referencing MLS Next's new competition level. Is Greenwood in regular MLS Next or Next Go? There's a big difference
I was told Greenwood will have affiliations with both MLS Next and Next Go.
