I'm being told that TSC has NOT met with ECNL.

I guess we're getting to that part of the year where rumors spin back up and what not.

@lawpoke87 where did you hear that they'd met?

TSC boys in ECNL out of 18
2012’s 10th
2011’s 16th
2010’s 5th
2009’s 17th
2008’s 13th
2007’s 6th
In arguably the toughest ECNL conference.

Dirk,

Have you heard anything regarding NL? I know they are/were meeting.

I do believe most of the NL issues are on the girls side. The boys side has been respectable. The 2010 boys are more than respectable

I think TSC has a lot of leverage. If ECNL wants to take NL. TSC has an open invite to MLS Next. It would suck for the girls to go GA. My son is done after this year so really doesn’t matter to me. JM is really hurting all the clubs. FC Tulsa isn’t the solution. If I’m Barry I look for a partner club. Maybe even let them run it (Energy, Celtic, Sporting, etc)

How do these teams do when they go to those showcases?

Didn't you mention earlier that they decently when they go to the showcases?
They do but showcases games are generally seeded. So if you’re the 14th place team in your conference you’re playing against similarly placed team in other conferences. The Texas league is a very good conference. Probably 3rd or so toughest (girls side)

GA in this area of the country is ECRL quality at best. Hopefully that doesn’t occur. It would basically mean the end of the TSC’s girls side as a top tier club.

Is TSC open invite for MLS Next or MLS Next 2? Any thought on which league is better: MLS Next 2 or ECNL? TSC getting an MLS Next invite could be a game changer for the boys side.

What would the GA schedule look like, I’m not familiar with the other GA clubs in this region. As far as partnering with Barry it would have to be a financial partnership only because I can’t imagine any other clubs locally wanting to deal with him from an operational standpoint.

I don’t know the specifics. I think WSA could get knocked down

I assume they would partner with clubs from Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. The problem is most of those clubs aren’t very good. We played the 09 Renegades and 09 Rise a few months ago which is a year up for us. Results were 3-0 and 9-0

I don’t know the specifics. I think WSA could get knocked down from Texas Conference RL to Frontier.
I think is much more likely WSA gets NL than gets dropped to Frontier. We should know shortly how this shakes out. I do believe NL and ECRL needs to be placed with the same club. ECNL did TSC no favors when they demoted them to Frontier.

Leaving ECNL would be an ultimate downgrade for the girls.

I had a brain fart the other day. Do you see a world where the NWSL does something like MLS Next? That would be real competition for ECNL.

I have never heard of the standing MLS next invite. Are kids prepared for high school soccer? I don't know. High school soccer outside the good 5A schools and 6A is a big joke.

It would be the death knell for Technico, though, and the espoused BS. I wonder how much losing Michael Nsien from the youth national teams hurts them. Before I guarantee, every MLS team wanted to lick his behind. Now, they could care less.

The outstanding TSC teams would compete, but the bad ones would be even uglier. I cannot imagine teams from Jackson, Mississippi, and Baton Rouge would be awesome in MLS Next. There is just no way.

I would be very very surprised if TSC were awarded an MLS Next spot. I could see them getting an MLS Next 2 spot however. As 2 is a new league, the level of competition is a mystery. My guess would be somewhere between ECNL and ECRL. I do believe an MLS Next 2 spot is coming to Tulsa. I’m just not sure which club. Whatever club chooses to participate they are basically saying goodbye to their girls side imo. Which is problematic as the girls side funds most clubs

My guess is that if TSC loses NL that’s all she wrote. I can’t imagine any iteration of MLS attaches it’s wagon to TSC when there are more stable options in Tulsa.

I don't think that means the end to the girl's side unless ECNL said no way. There are girls-only clubs, right? Is challenge one of those?
I don’t know if Tulsa is a big enough market to have a girls only club, and with the way TSC prioritizes girls soccer it’s not the club to lead the charge.

I don't know 100% of the history of soccer in Tulsa but wasn't there a club back in the day called Hurrican Futbol which was mostly girls and they merged with TSC?

I may be wrong but I thought hurricane formed out of Tulsa Spirit or Tulsa Pride which I thought were boys clubs. I know when Hurrricane and TSC merged it was boys and girls, not sure the mix.

That was before me coming to Tulsa for sure. I had a friend at TU who played for Hurracan when she came and played for the women's team at TU.

So TSC announced a college signing yesterday and they took all this pride in it. Which I found odd. I understand the kid plays at TSC right now but TSC basically turned their back on him when he was 13...like was told he was going to be the backup on the team my son was on and the coach couldn't guarantee him any minutes. Coach did this in front of me and my son which didn't sit well with me at all. My son decided to go try out at WSA because he had some good friends on a team over there and they raved about their coach. He shows up, and this other GK is also there trying out. WSA coach announces my son as the next GK for that team...again, in front of everyone and before he even consulted with my son (or me). My son wasn't feeling it and decided to return to TSC. The other kid then gets the spot at WSA and it was weird because we played that team like 5 times that season between OPC and tournaments and basically hammered them every time. Kid was still at WSA as of last Spring and was the backup on their 06 RL team. . This kid also left Jenks to go to Metro Christian for HS because he wasn't going to get any minutes behind Jack Franklin the next 3 years (he wasn't even going to be the backup on JV to be honest). I think he is penciled in to be the starter at Jenks this season which should be interesting. Jenks will not be able to sit back and just defend. They will need to score goals to win games this season.

And I'm not disparaging the kid at all. He's a great kid. I like his parents. He and my son are friends. He's tall and lanky and a decent shot stopper. He really struggles with the ball at his feet though and his hands are suspect at best. But I can see where an NAIA school would take a chance on a kid who's 6'3". It just burns me that TSC is taking the credit when I know for a fact it was the coach at WSA, who was formerly the Bahamian national team GK and GK coach, who developed him to get him to this point.

Those nothing do with that. Pride had one or two great, great teams the rest were meh. There was never a merging persay. Steve Earle went on to coach at TSC for a bit.

TSC and hurricane had both boys and girls teams

I was thinking the girls portion could run with ecnl and the boys with mls next but I doubt ecnl would go for it.

So should WSA had hyped him? Why did he leave WSA’s non-profit greatness ?

I don’t believe mls next would go for it. My understanding is their partnership with GA is going to require MLS next clubs join GA on the girls side unless grandfathered in

That is going to be a big ask. The Development Academy only had about half of the ECNL clubs jump to DA. I am sure people like FC Dallas or these Dallas Hornet characters are more than happy to keep that grandfather clause to keep Texans and Solar out of thoughts of coming back in the MLS-Next.

So to be fair regarding my previous post, Blitz just announced a college commitment for a kid who hasn't been at Blitz except for this past Fall. He previously played RL/NL at TSC in the 06 age group (senior at Bixby this year). I think he followed Tony Winters to Blitz after TSC pissed Tony off. Tony had been at TSC long before my son even started playing soccer and he's an excellent coach. Not 100% sure what happened but when the announcement was made last Spring he was moving to Blitz, I was shocked (but only a little).

Again, Blitz is taking the credit but he clearly developed his game at TSC (my son played with him at TSC...he was one of the kids who wondered why my son wasn't the regular GK on the RL team instead of only guest playing). They always gave each other crap whenever Union and Bixby played each other too.

Well, he signed at blitz. It is arguable that they helped him get him signed to that place. And maybe TSC helped the other guy you were indignant about in someway that WSA wasn't. Who knows.

The clubs are going to take whatever credit they can, whenever they can. It's part of their marketing after all.

Tulsa Pride 72 was a great team. Lots of talent across the board. It still wasn't enough to take down Tulsa United 71 for the state championship back in 1989.

That was some real stuff back then.

We had Real sweepers.

You could pass it back to the keepers and pick it up.

None of this flat back 4, false nine.

Keepers had to be able to throw and stuff. '

The world was better then. We weren't even compromised with Coors yellow bellies here.
