We're graduating about 57% of just about any metric that matters - scoring, rebounds, minutes, 3PT made... We're really going to need guys who aren't contributing much to step up next year. Seniors/grads and Griffin are 80% of our scoring and more than 60% of rebounds, so figure Griffin can't add a lot so we need a bunch to come from everyone else. That's pretty scary especially if there aren't changes at the top.

My expectation is that the next coach will have to replace 10 players at least.

We may not have to fire Haith. He may leave on his own. He did it at his last job when facing similar looking outlook.

I expect the new coach will retain 3 or 4 if they don't portal before he is hired. It will be a lot of new players, but nothing unusual here as we have been doing this a while. I just hope the new recruiters can bring in better players and that coaching significantly improves. I would not count out the November signees. If they are as good as advertised, the new coach will contact them immediately. And if we retain the assistant who recruited them, all the better.

If the stay commited they certainly shouldn't lack for potential playing time with any new hire that comes in. Frank has created one helluva dumpster fire.

If the coach can keep Pritchard and Griffin, assess the rest, (keep one or three more) and keep both of the recruits we have coming in, that's enough of a base to recruit a decent team in a year or two.

I would bet that Griffin leaves for a contender.

Pritchard might stay because he’s local. I think Dalger might stay and Urbancic probably will.

I don’t see anyone else who I would give a greater than 50% chance of staying if Haith is gone. If Haith stays I don’t care who stays anyway, we will still miss the postseason.

I think the rules allow only one portal change without a year penalty. Take that into consideration.

Those are the two that the program needs to build around on the current roster. Hell, who knows what the other guys would be like if they had someone actually coaching them or beating them down. All the guys know the routine, make a mistake giving effort and sit, and Im sure that’s not the end of it. Thus guys look like thei running around with no idea what their roles should be.

I don't think the new coach would want Urbancik.

If you are referring to academics, i still don't think a new coach would want him. If the coach would want him, then i don't want that coach.
There’s no fault keeping some glue guys if they really are glue guys. Tim Peete wasn’t impressive for Doug, but he worked hard and succeeded for Manning. Might not be the same, but I would blame a new coach for keeping one guy. Depending on how the rest of the roster shaped up.

Unless maybe he graduates…
You funny. You didn't even think about Griifin having already utilized the portal. Otherwise you would have mentioned, 'if graduated', when you referenced chasing a contender.

You reach really hard to justify your comments.

Individual player comments of this type are probably better pay board discussion.

Duke has three or four guys on scholarship that could not even make our roster. They are probably 4.0 students and never complain. Coach K told a coach friend of mine that he always carries 3-4 good kids who don't mind their role because you can only keep 8-9 happy with playing time. You don't lose those kids in the portal because they want a great college degree.

Other than recruited Portal transfers, add the few from the current squad, plus our two signed
recruits (if the new coach would want them, and they were willing to come), one other source
comes to mind.....If the new coach was a current head coach at a lower division school, and had
the kind of success that made him an attractive prospect for hiring at this level, he might have a
couple of players good enough that he would want them to come with him.....

High turnover and the subsequent large recruiting classes have been one of Haith's major
problems.....But in this case, any 'changing the coach" year will require it......Aston is probably
about right....9 or 10.......
