Where Do We Go From Here?

Haith's recruiting has been solid recently, 2 of our highest recruits(Jeffries and Hill) ever on 24/7 sports, I would be willing to give Haith another year and see what he can do. Sure, he has had some poor scholarship decisions in Hewitt, Falokan and Zeke Moore, however, Haith can recruit some stars. I understand this year has been disappointing, but I want to see what he can do with Hill. Also if we fire Haith, we will lose a lot of current recruiting ground potentially losing Hill, and losing all potential progress we have made on Thompson.

We got a bit lucky with Jeffries in that he really liked the city...just hated ORU. I don't think we have made much progress with Thompson.

Agreed. Losing like we are now isn’t going to help with Thompson. But I don’t think extending haith just to keep Hill is the solution either.

We already signed Hill... If we got the right replacement, I think we would keep him instead of him transferring and having to sit out. I'd be worried about losing Phipps.

His only other offer that I know about is ORU. He's not going to ORU.
He's only a junior... If we let go of Haith, I have no doubt that there are other schools that would be interested in a shooter of his caliber.

Haith being here isn't going to prevent other schools from offering Phipps if they want him. Especially if Haith becomes a lame duck coach without an contract extension. One might argue other schools would be more likely to offer if Haith is here without a contract extensions in two months then if we hire a young new charismatic coach. If schools want Phipps they will offer.

I expect to see him get several more offers after AAU season. You're right about Haith being a lame duck though. I wonder if he'd agree to a buyout if we stretched it over a couple seasons?

Agree 100%. Haith has never been a recruiter. Maybe that’ll change but it’d be pretty close to a miracle for him suddenly to transform on that. He’s been doing this a long time and 5 years at TU. If there was great recruiter in there somewhere we would have seen it before.

It’s not just last years class that hurt us under Haith. Does anyone remember the names Rusic, Brown, Dew, Artison, Atson, or Battle? That’s 6 names on top of this years dud of a recruiting class. Add in Magnay who decided he’d rather move back to Australia than play for Frank.

I think you could probably include some guys like Wheeler in there too. Also, Haith mismanaged Edogi’s Tulsa career arc and redshirted him as a junior when we needed bigs, only to let him grad transfer as a RS senior.

My opinion on Phipps is that is the education that is bringing him here, not coach Haith. Get a charismatic coach to replace Haith and we have a better than average chance of keeping him in the fold. Maybe we would have a better than Haith chance of weathering other offers to get him to come. His dad is a big influence in him coming here, and education is a big deal to Conley.

Trey Phipps works off screens and open horse shots . He is not a one on one create his own open space type of athlete , that said a school like TU is good for him . He’s not going to get any offers from blue bloods and if he wants to play TU will give him that opportunity. I wish Rod Thompson would convince his son to go to TU with Phipps and start the local talent pipeline again like Bill Self had .

Something I have forgotten to mention is that Conley's dad, Trey's grandfather, was the Principal of the school in Cleveland when I was in school there.

tried to call in last week to the show and they were not taking calls. Was going to ask about recruiting. Bruce is protecting like he did Woj.
