Has it always been that way? There used to always be sports editorials when coaches struggled…and I don’t think they were endorsed by the university.

I was being a bit facetious. However, with a new AD and Pres, I could see the media being somewhat cautious with their criticism. It will be interesting to see what’s written in the next few days
Where is Sittler when he is needed? Haisten should have plenty of ammo for the article. This time TU fans will be glad to see it out in the open.

And the World doesn’t care or write about TU. Our new DC gets one article emphasizing his local high school roots. OSU’s new DC gets multiple articles that bordered on butt kissing the new messiah. No mention of the way UH shredded the Auburn D to win their bowl game in the late 4Q.
Ever since the World devalued TU athletics by assigning a single reporter to cover both TU and that evilgelical abomination on south Lewis, you knew you couldn’t expect much coverage of TU. And frnakly the products TU offers - with the exception of cross country, men’s soccer and women’s basketball- haven’t generated any buzz or excitement this season.
Carson is promising big changes, and expects to increase Basketball attendance. Let’s see if he and Dickson will step up and make us relevant again.
Sad as this will sound, I just hope we can become competitive again. Afraid relevant is a ways down the road...

We need to return to having a winning record by a decent margin every year.
You don't get to say you're competitive if you lose to Tulane by 34...
You don't ever lose to ECU on our court. Or Air Force, or Southeastern Oklahoma State.
My definition of competitive would be having an out of conference record that is well above .500 against teams that are well regarded, to be in the conversation as a team at the top of the league, and to always be in the post season conversation. Close games don’t always translate to competitive…
This. That's certainly what I meant. A 2 win team in conference is not competitive, no matter how many of the losses are 5 points or less.
Competitive is not what I aspire the team to be, but it's a lot better than whatever this is. And it is probably a necessary benchmark given how far the program has fallen before we start insisting on Sweet Sixteens from our new coach.
Yeah, where the hell is Haisten blasting TU for not making a change immediately? He's always quick to throw TU under the bus for something...where is he now?
He may be waiting until the Legends are introduced Saturday and after the Cincy game , especially if we lose another home game.
He was on the Blitz with Big Al and Pop yesterday. If you download the app you should be able to pull up the archive for a listen. It certainly wasn't pretty, and they weren't off base with their ideas and criticisms, which are very reflective of the opinions expressed on this board.
