Will the Crafts pursue it? A 15k stadium is needed longer term.

If not I will give a hard pass to watching FC Tulsa going forward. They will be dead to me.

i haven't read up entirely on this but are they going to start promotion and relegation. That would be amazing
This will only work if anyone currently a part of USL can pursue that top division. They will also need to adopt financial fair play rules similar to what England has in place. MLS has been resistant to it because why would owners who paid $150M-$250M for their recent franchises want to be relegated after a year or two? USL will need to figure out how to get the higher $ players in order to be truly top division soccer in the US. Right now MLS has that market cornered and they're going to make it very difficult to compete for the market share, TV and ad $, and fans in general.

With regards to Tulsa specifically, if the Crafts plan to be part of this structure, they need to have a stadium plan in place and then maybe they can use Chapman as a placeholder until they can get that stadium built.

They want promo/relegation but will not have it up front.

So the real promo opportunity will be gaining entry to the d1 division initially. They need lots of metro areas of 1 million plus. And a stadium or real plan for one of 15k plus.

I like going downtown to Oneok. Ed's hurricane lounge and the buc just aren't the same.

The city of Tulsa should toss them some land and do utilities if they build it out.

One of the plans for the old ironworks site north of downtown included a multipurpose stadium. It was the one rejected that Emmett Smith was behind. Of course, then the winning group failed to get their ducks in row and we ended up with nothing. No ideas what happened.

They tried to submit a development plan for the old fintube site just east of OSU-Tulsa (and just NW of the new BMX USA site). And then that whole development got brushed aside. City wanted to do some sort of mixed use retail and housing but the funding and developer fell through.

I hate games at OneOK. The sight lines suck to be honest from most seats...and I hate the sodded over infield look and the way it affects play. You're going to have that loyal supporters group that loves the downtown stuff, but a stadium in Jenks on the Riverwalk probably opens up an additional 15-20k fans who might go to more games if they didn't have to go downtown.

Yes. There were two proposals. The committee picked the local one with no stadium. Then the local group did not finalize the funding timely and was kicked out.

The land is still there. Same site I was noting.
