Tyler Smith update

Rush looked like the QB that we abused in the bowl game...
Well, Philly is a different beast this year. Their DBs are really really good and they generate enough of a pass rush to make it difficult for a QB like Cooper Rush who can move in the pocket but would not necessarily be confused as a mobile QB

True Philly is good... I just think he is the same QB that Dane Evans outclassed in 2016.. Rush was 25-50 with 3 picks in that game...

That TU team was what, 3 plays from playing in an AAC championship game and possibly a NY6 bowl game. Stupid AAC refs. Just saying that game was a complete mismatch despite CMU having Cooper Rush who was/is a good QB. We did the same thing to Miami (OH) and Ball St. and one of those 2 had a highly touted QB as well. We had more and better athletes on the field that day than CMU did. Rush has better WRs now, a better group of RBs and a hell of a lot better defense than he did in 2016 with CMU.

That said, he's a serviceable backup in the NFL that can help a team in times just like this. Gus Frerotte turned this type of role into a 14 year NFL career and every season a starter got injured and he got to play a few games, fans started calling for a QB change (see Daunte Culpepper in MN). Gus even got calls up to 2-3 years after he retired to see if he would be interested in backing x-start QB up the next season. Good, reliable backup QBs in the NFL are invaluable. Rush fits the mold and apparently well, for the Cowboys. Ask the Miami Dolphins what they wouldn't do for a reliable backup QB right now.
