Tulsa must keep pace the rest of the season.

Tulsa must keep pace with the rest of the conference or watch themselves continue to fall back into middle of the pack. If the rest of the conference continue speed up their pace and Tulsa doesn't. Tulsa could finish the regular season with a fourth or fifth place. A basketball season isn't a sprint, its a marathon. You must have the legs to finish it. I guess we'll see if Tulsa has the legs to put in a final kick to the finish.

The pack is back there with 5 losses......all looking at us and SMU.

RPI is down to #50. We can lose one more game imo and still get an at-large. Our margin is very small.

I think we get an at-large with 2 more conference losses and go 1-1 in the conference tournament., losing in the semi. That still might be close but probably in. We are given a 7.47% chance of winning the conference tournament.

I hope you're correct. If Lunardi's right we would likely be on the outside looking in if the selections were next week. I'm not sure two more losses helps us move up.

The main thing is that two losses or less gives us first or second place in the league. Hard to leave out the league's second best team.

+1 Thought this all along. I hope the kids are reading this board. Most of their own fans are writing them off. Time to send a message...

I was puzzled by the drop in RPI to 50. My guess is that having not played in a week, TU has seen peer teams' RPI increase as they have won or lost to high-ranked opponents. Or perhaps just shuffling. My guess is 3 straight wins and TU is back to 40.

Losses by OU and OSU over the weekend certainly didn't help. Lunardi dropped us more than I expected also.

As far as the RPI goes, we do need more help from our previous opponents. Incarnate Word has kept their part of the deal helping us a lot.

I was really hoping Creighton could take down Butler but they were just short.

We also have to remember that the SEOSU loss will be factored it, it doesn't count for RPI but it counts against you. You have to figure that loss alone is a 5-10 spot dip. I think we need at least a tie for the conference championship to get in.

ash =o)

Palm has the AAC with 4 bids. If we come in second with 4 bids I don't see how they could take 1,3,4, and 5 and omit us.

OU wins Auburn loses
50 live rpi but .3 to 47
Need Cinncy to beat Xavier at home same
time as our game. May decide at large between
A 10 and AAC
TU by 11 per Vegas
Need a blowout but above all a W

Is Edsall on the selection committee?

Three officials are on the committee this year. Edsall, Higgins, and Steed.

The good news with Steed is that no one will be able to leave their seats, which should speed up the selection process.

"we find out if the University of Tulsa's basketball season has been a mirage or if the Golden Hurricane possesses a quality that will endure well into March". That sentence by John Hoover in today's TW pretty much sums up my feelings about the season so far.

We haven't played any defense in the last couple of weeks(guarding three's, drives to the basket, etc.) & I hope it's something as fixable as tiredness & illness instead of attitude or issues with the coaches. If it's skill level in the new conference, well.......,we'll kick butt next year. The close wins during the streak without shooting it worth a dang( including free-throws) has been great but very worrisome. If they can play up to the Memphis mashing here, a full 40 & not just the last 20, they'll be fine.

Good Post. Haven't looked at number of wins (not so important in AAC) but it is imperative to win the quarterfinal game in the AAC tournament. The committee loves to ditch a team that is on the bubble if they lose their first game in the conference tournament.

22 and a conf tourney win should get us in. 21 and a fianl appearnace in AAC and we should be ok.
