Tulane game thread

Why do we always get the sucky officials?

You know how I know Tulsa is playing well? There's almost no posts on the game thread.

Playing very active. Certainly seems like the team has some confidence now and realizes how good they can be after Houston. Up 21-7

They have to vary the play when they have first down inside the 5 though.

I agree. 1st and goal from the 2 and we lose a yd in 3 tries. Although Flanders got stuffed 3 straight times, he seems to be cutting and finding holes better than Brewer. I'm wondering if Brewer's ankle is still bothering him. He seemed to have a big hole but ran right into the defender, twice. Didn't make the cut.

After the Houston game I did my best (albeit not much) to assist in ensuring a sell out. It didn't happen but this is the best home crowd we've had in years.

Just as I posted about Brewer, he makes a nice cut to go for 10+ yds. Lol

Tulane has only given up more than 24 points in a game ONCE this season and it was in a 4 OT game against Louisiana-Lafayette in which they gave up 39. Tulsa scored 31 in the 1st half!

The folks complaining about no gold in the uniforms should be happy today.
These uni's harken me back to my first homecoming game back in '92. This is a great uni combo and the Adidas colors makes it pop a little more as I think they have found a truer Royal and old gold than Nike or previous suppliers

I'm mad there's so much gold!!!!!!!!!!!11111

I'm kidding I don't care what color the uniforms are as long as they look good and the team likes them. So far they've all looked great and the team has loved them all.

This side judge is a complete asshat. No, he's 110% asshat. He calls the worst pass interference ever, which gets picked up. Then he calls a hit out of bounds where our guy touched the running back. Mom must be proud.

For some reason we thought the game is only a half. We've stopped stopped playing

Except for McKinley Whitfield

I just turned to my buddy and said "and this why a game is longer than a half." Immediately after that PICK-2!!

Please tell me they got that dude holding the baby catching the extra point on video?

He caught that one handed too...

Props to 72 from Tulane for trying to chase McKinley down though. Everyone else on Tulane stopped around the point of where the ball was snapped at

That was an awfully long run for two measly points.

Both Flanders and Simon were 15 yards downfield on their TD runs before a Tulane player even touched them. D line and LBers were completely removed from the play by our OL.

Did I hear the announcers say Dane got hurt?

Dang, our defense is not looking so good. But
Did I hear the announcers say Dane got hurt?

On the fumble on the snap, a DL slammed into his left shoulder. It hurt but hopefully nothing separated.

Not having Martin in the middle has really hurt today. Tulane's "option" has really been nothing more than what we've run. In spots where Martin normally is Edmistonnis a step late reading the ball and getting to the hole.

Brubaker is on the hands team as well. That kid is a much better athlete and much more versatile than he has been used since he got here

No complaints here with the offense. I love watching Flanders run the ball. He's decently fast but puts a hurt on tacklers and looks to have great vision. He could be something in the NFL I think. Keevan should also be able to make a team in the NFL. Dane did very well and made up for poor 2nd half defense. Was a fun game to watch. Lets keep winning!

The defense didn't play great today, but it's amazing how much better they are compared to last year. Especially the secondary. In an area where Blankenship failed miserably, this staff has done a great job recruiting defensive backs. Keanu Hill is the closest thing to a lockdown corner we have had in a long time. And Reggie Robinson is a beast.

Main concern I have is our redzone offense/defense. In the last two games, once Houston and Tulane got inside the 10 yard line, it looked way too easy for them to get in the zone. Need to start holding teams to field goals. Today, we had the ball 1st down on the 2 yard line, and managed to lose a yard and settle for a field goal. That can't happen against better teams like Memphis/Navy.

And I wish Petera Wilson would play more snaps. He is such a good playmaker rushing off the edge. He is almost unblockable, but usually only plays on 3rd downs.

Except most everyone playing on defense right now is a Blankenship recruit. Edmiston and Hill would be the exceptions. I believe Reggie Robinson was a BB commit and stayed true (I could be wrong), but he was definitely in that transition class that was mostly BB guys and filled in with Monty's few. The same way Kragthorpe came in and immediately changed the culture with Burns' guys and won, Monty won with a lot of BB guys last year and now is starting to work in his own. Much of what went wrong the last 2 yrs of BB's tenure was scheme related. (Remember, Bob Stoops won a national championship with almost all John Blake guys contributing at key spots).
