BRIN and SANTANA on watch list for Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award
TYLER, Texas –– The 10th annual Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List was announced today at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler 16th Annual East Texas Kick-off Luncheon.
A pair of University of Tulsa football student-athletes – quarterback Davis Brin and receiver JuanCarlos Santana – were named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List for 2022. A total of 63 players from 53 schools made the preseason Watch List this year. The Tulsa duo is two of eight players representing the American Athletic Conference.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
Brin, 6'3", is from Boerne, Texas and played at Boerne Champion High School, while Santana hails from Houston and played at Katy High School.Davis Brin throws

Brin enters his second season as the starting signal-caller for the Hurricane. He completed 59-percent of his passes last year for 3,269 yards and 18 touchdowns. Brin threw for a career-high 428 yards with two touchdowns against No.9-ranked Ohio State, and a week later passed for 355 yards and three TDs against Arkansas State.
The 6'0" Santana hauled in 51 of Brin's pass for 689 yards and three TDs last season. He enters his final year with 1,451 career yards and seven touchdowns.
The award recognizes the top offensive player who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.
