TU Football: Inside the Numbers -- from Chad Bonham

TU's leader in freshman rushing yards is Kenneth Lee, with 582 yards in 1986. I don't even remember Kenneth Lee. Did he do anything of note beyond his freshman year?

Kenneth Lee pretty much disappeared after his freshman season. He played three more years, but only played in eight total games and rushed for 138 yards. Derrick Ellison was the leading rusher in 1987 and Brett Adams was the leading rusher in 1988 and 1989.

Ah, Brett Adams, the human bowling ball. I recall his 30 yard pass reception to let Oregon know they were in a tussle in that bowl game which we won! Wait a minute, we didn't win because of one of the worst calls I've ever seen on that fumble while the O qb was falling on his butt. They keep the ball, kick a field goal & beat us by 1 or 2 points. What a tragic loss when Brett Adams died so young. TU Football: 1st,last,always!

I remember that very, very cold Independence Bowl game in 1989. We did get burned with a very bad call! That obvious Oregon fumble should've given Tulsa the ball with the score 24-24. Instead Oregon kicks the winning FG on the next play, with about 2 minutes left. With today's replay rules, Tulsa gets the ball at our own 3 yard line & we most likely end up with a tie game ( this was before overtime). Oregon fans knew they were lucky to get the win.
