THE STORYLINES . . .

• Tulsa is in its 126th season of football in 2022.

• Tulsa has the smallest FBS enrollment with a total enrollment of 3,705 students … Navy's enrollment is 4,400 students.

• Navy and Tulsa are two of the top teams nationally when it comes to possession time … Navy ranks second with an average of 36:09 per game, while Tulsa averages 32:48 minutes to rank 19th in the FBS.

• Tulsa ranks 10th for pass offense, while Navy ranks 101st against the pass… the Midshipmen rank 50th for rushing offense, while Tulsa ranks 115th for run defense.

• The two coaches are the most tenured head coaches in the American Athletic Conference with Navy's Ken Niumatalolo in his 15th year and Tulsa's Philip Montgomery in his 8th season.


THE SERIES . . .

• This is the 10th meeting between Tulsa and Navy.

• The Midshipmen lead the series 7-2 and won last year's meeting 20-17 in Tulsa.

• Both of Tulsa's wins have come in Annapolis, including a 24-23 overtime win in 2006, the second meeting between the two schools, and a 19-6 win in Tulsa's last time in Annapolis (2020).

• Navy won five straight games sandwiched between the two Tulsa victories.


STOKES AMONG NATION'S TOP RECEIVERS . . .

• Keylon Stokes is ranked second in the nation for receiving yards with 613 behind Old Dominion's Ali Jennings with 688 yards.

• His 122.6-yard average per game is third in the FBS behind SMU's Rashlee Rice (141.2) and Jennings (137.6).

• Stokes also ranks seventh for receptions per game (7.4), 22nd for all-purpose yards (136.8) and 48th for punt return yards (6.4).


BRIN MAKES CUT ON JOHNNY UNITAS GOLDEN ARM LIST . . .

• The original list of 76 candidates on the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list has been reduced to the nation's Top 25 quarterbacks.

• Tulsa's Davis Brin is the only American Athletic Conference quarterback to make the top 25 list.

• Through five games, Brin ranks among the nation's top-10 quarterbacks for passing yards per completion (3rd), passing yards (8th) and passing yards per game (9th).



STOKES INCHING CLOSER TO SCHOOL RECORD . . .

• Keylon Stokes entered the season ranked ninth on the school's all-time receiving chart with 2,550 career yards.

• With 613 yards in five games, Stokes has moved into fourth place with 3,163 yards.

• Stokes needs just 87 yards shy of tying his brother Keevan Lucas (2013-16) for third place (3,250) on the all-time list … he needs 137 yards to tie Dan Bitson (1987-89, '91) for second place and 180 yards shy of all-time leader Howard Twilley's (1963-65) all-time record of 3,343 yards.

• Stokes is just the fifth player in American Athletic Conference history to reach 3,000 career receiving yards … he ranks fifth overall and needs 57 yards to surpass SMU's Courtland Sutton (2015-17) for fourth place.


COMPLIMENTING STOKES . . .

• Keylon Stokes is not the only receiving weapon for the Hurricane …JuanCarlos Santana, Malachai Jones and Isaiah Epps have also made an impact this season.

• Stokes has a team-high 613 yards and 3 TDs for a 122.6 average per game, while Tulsa's next three receivers have totaled 980 yards and 9 TDs.

• Santana is next with 411 yards and team-highs of an 18.6 average per catch and 4 TDs,

• Jones has 301 yards and one TD, while Epps has 268 yards and shares the team-lead with 4 touchdowns.

• With Stokes, the four receivers have combined for 12 touchdown receptions with Santana and Epps leading the way with four … the four receivers also have at least one reception for over 30 yards this season.


APPROACHING 200 . . .


• Two Tulsa defenders are nearing the 200-tackle mark for their careers and a third could get there by seasons' end as well.

• Nickel safety Bryson Powers has 191 career stops in 51 games and linebacker Justin Wright has totaled 190 tackles in 42 career contests.

• Kendarin Ray is 33 tackles shy of 200 with 167 stops in 32 career games.


BRIN PUTS UP NUMBERS . . .

• Tulsa quarterback Davis Brin was named the AAC Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 10 after connecting on back-to-back passes for 55 yards with under two minutes to set up the game-winning touchdown in Tulsa’s 38-35 victory over NIU.

• Brin finished the game with 322 yards and a career-high four TDs on 19-of-32 passing.

• A week earlier, Brin opened the season with his second 400+ yard career passing game when he passed for 460 yards at Wyoming, for the 6th-best passing performance in school history and most since David Johnson’s 469 yards against New Mexico in 2008.

• Brin had his third career 400+ passing game with 424 yards vs. JAX State and tied his career-high with 4 TDs.

• In the first three games, Brin completed 64-percent of his passes (76-of-119) for 1,206 yards, 402 ayrds per game and 11 TDs to lead the nation in passing yards, passing yards per game and passing TDs.

• In the 4th game, Brin played the first four series against #13 Ole Miss before leaving the game with an injury … he completed 7-of-13 passes for 112 yards and one TD in those four series.


POWERS SECOND IN AAC FOR TACKLES . . .

• Graduate nickel safety Bryson Powers leads the Hurricane with 47 tackles and has the second-most in the American Athletic Conference behind Cincinnati's Ivan Pace Jr.

• Powers has had two double-digit tackle-games this season.

• Powers had a career-best 13 tackles against NIU in the second game of the season, surpassing his previous career-best of 12 tackles from the 2018 season … he was named to the AAC's weekly honor roll for his performance against NIU.

• He had his second double-figure tackle game this year with 11 stops at #13 Ole Miss.

• In his fifth season of participation, Powers now has 191 career tackles … he also has six career forced fumbles, six pass breakups and three fumble recoveries.

• Powers was named to CoSIDA Academic All-DistrictĀ® VII football team in 2021.

• Powers finished his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering in May 2021 with a 3.72 grade point average … he is currently working on his master’s degree in business.

• He has earned AAC academic all-conference honors each year.


OFFENSIVE LINE MUSICAL CHAIRS . . .

• Coming into the season opener, Tulsa's first game starting lineup had zero career starts among the offensive linemen with just 23 game appearances in a Tulsa uniform.

• Two of Tulsa's 5 starters from last year were NFL draft picks – LT Tyler Smith was the Dallas Cowboys' first round pick and RT Chris Paul was drafted in the seventh round by the Washington Commanders.

• Only Tulsa and Virginia came into the season with no starters returning on the O-Line.

• Through five games, Tulsa has had the same starting offensive line in just two games –– NIU and Cincinnati –– with RT Jaden Muskrat, RG Tai Marks, C Will Farniok, LB Chester Baah and LT Dillon Wade.

• Only the left tackle spot has had the same starter – Dillon Wade – in each of the first five games.

• The opening game lineup featured LT Dillon Wade, LG Chester Baah, C Will Farniok and two FBS transfers – RG Darrell Simpson and RT Kai Leon Herbert.

• Herbert suffered a first half injury and was replaced by Jaden Muskrat, who had 8 previous game appearances with one start, coming in the 2020 Bowl game against Mississippi State.

• Of the seven players who have offensive line starting assignments – only Wade has started all five games … Farniok, Marks, Simpson, Baah and Muskrat each have four starts.

• Simpson has started games at right guard and left guard, while Marks has started at right guard and center.
