Anyone seen the kerfuffle about the restructure of the alumni association? Not sure how true/accurate what I’ve seen is, but it looks like there are a lot of folks unhappy about it.

Would be something if it turned into an argie bargie.

Maybe those of you in town are aware of the “restructuring” but those of us out of town are unaware.

It might turn in to a Saturday Night Muskogee Street Fight! No one wants that.

Will anyone bring a 40 gallon drum of ass whip!

I know a few things. Cuz I am part of the Alumni Association Board:)

I am not kerfuffled though.

I figured it might have just been a misunderstanding.
It might be. I don't know of course.

I signed an NDA but would say that the steps they want to take seem pretty reasonable to me. All in all. I don't think anything is insane and doubt it will affect the Tulsa chapter substantively. Or any of the large chapters for that matter.

I would probably say the changes seem pretty boring. Hard for me to understand why it would rile many folks up actually!

Wasn’t sure where to post it but the amount of mail my Sophomore receives from TU is beyond impressive. Easily 5x what he receives from any other schools.

My son got a lot from TU as well early on. They're trying to keep the brightest OK kids here because a whole lot of them want the hell out of dodge. Hell, they had my son's acceptance letter before he ever officially applied.

Now the amount he got from schools in his junior year after he had taken the PSAT Spring of SO year was absolutely insane. I mean U of Chicago was sending postcards, letters, stickers, pennants on an almost daily basis (not kidding or exaggerating). Problem with U of Chicago...no engineering school.

As for the Alumni dust up or whatever you all decided to call it...is it related to the Director of the AA leaving or was the reconfiguration the reason she left. She had been there forever.

Alumni changes are related to how chapters and clubs operate. I would broadly state it is a move to more centralization and less autonomy. There is also a change to the BOD structure.

Because I am an at large member and only involved because I want to provide expertise and counsel, I do not see the changes as earth shattering.

My participation is not part of my identity. I can take or leave it on my terms without taking anything personally so the changes don't threaten me. They seemed reasonably well thought out so I say give it a try.

That is the level of detail I feel comfortable sharing.
