Vitale has likely only seen the good which is wins against Temple, UCONN, and Memphis. In Kelly's defense she has seen the whole season and there is not only bad but extremely ugly in that entirety. While I think we are playing at a Top 25 level, if you witnessed the SEOSU game you would be hesitant as well. Does Kelly even have a vote?

Can't compare scores. Especially in this game. We were lost against Oklahoma. That was right after SEOSU. It was soul searching time. The staff and kids came through for us. I think there's still too much emphasis being put on those early year struggles.

I don't agree, Tulsa is now a national program in a national conference. For example I don't discount OU's rating since they lost to Creighton? Many other examples. Tulsa lost to two good top 25 teams, it happens.

I don't measure Tulsa's success by our performance against OU or OSU. Many built in advantages to the two state schools that come into play. 50 FT attempts last year in Norman is an example. I could go on and on.

Most important I think is what Haith has been saying of late. The Tulsa team is just now understanding what he is trying to do on the offensive end. Haith gives Danny Manning a lot of credit for the way these kids play D.

The biggest advantage OU and OSU had this season was TU's coaching change. If those games are played in Jan., whole different ball game IMO.

If that's how it plays out, it may be unprecedented. I can't find any teams in all of D1 that start 5 seniors this year.

Last year, Mercer started 5 seniors, but their 6th man was a sophomore who played 19 minutes per game. That team beat Duke in the 1st round of the tournament.

In 2007, Long Beach State's top 7 were all seniors. The 8th man was a sophomore who averaged 9 minutes per game. That team was 24-7 and lost to Tennessee in the 1st round.

Not exactly, before Reed was booted that team only started 4 Sr's.

Jarius Glenn actually replaced Reed in the starting lineup. Parker started all 33 games, and took over the role of PG upon Reed's dismissal.

I came across an interesting scoring comparison between the 1982-83, 1983-84, 2002-03 teams and the 2014-15 team.


Dating back to 1980-81, there has only been 4 seasons when TU's primary PG and SG both avg 15+ ppg

1982-83:
Harris: 18.5 ppg
Ross: 18.5 ppg

1983-84:
Harris: 21.1 ppg
Ross: 17.3 ppg

2002-03:
Parker 15.4 ppg
Swanson 15.1 ppg

2014-15:
Woodard 15.6 ppg
Harrison 15.4 ppg


In conference play, Harrison is avg 17.3 ppg and Woodard 17.1 ppg.


The last time TU's top 2 ppg scorers were guards was 2002-03.

Swanson 15.1 ppg

Woodard 15.6 ppg
Harrison 15.4 ppg


So does this really mean anything? If anything it serves more as a promising trend and fact. As we all know, great backcourt play is the key and teams that have a high level of production from their backcourt stand to have more success in March. The 1999-00 team was an exception, their offensive production was very balanced, with 5 players avg between 10-13 ppg, and a 6th player who avg, 9.7 ppg. Very few teams have the luxury of such balance, and IMO the next best scenario is receiving a high level of production from your SG & PG, as opposed to your post players who generally are more limited in the way they can score.

They have by far the best RPI wins in the AAC.

I think there is some question as to what kind of team Cincy will be without Cronin on the sidelines. Watching the UCF game the other day, they seemed to struggle with adjustments on the offensive side. UCF is just not very dynamic a team on offense so Cincy was able to adapt if UCF tried anything differently. Cincy challenges a lot of passes and really forces teams to play clean on the offensive end and if they don't Cincinnati gets a lot of easy buckets. Their half court offense is not very good, IMO.
