Thursday's NCAA Tournament Thread

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

No love for Cinncy but we saw why they
could play in the Big 10. Glad that our conference
did not go Ofer.

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

Cincy pulls it out in OT, so AAC goes 1-1 today. Too bad it wasn't SMU winning, or we'd have a great chance at a Sweet Sixteen team.

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

Outside of the call against SMU, the AAC refs need to watch the tournament and games need to be officiated just like they all have been. Names on the front of the jersey haven't mattered, names on the back haven't mattered, and the coach on the sideline hasn't mattered. IMO all the games have been well officiated and fair. That's all you can ask. And Ellis is a dumb a$$ thug. How the AAC refs let him get away with that crap most of the season is beyond me.

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

Big12 was a disaster today.

However, the inflated SOS argument makes zero sense.

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

Refs have been fair. Splitting the crews with guys that are not buddies makes them work hard and try to get advanced to the next round. Larry Brown was so sick he was not interested in the game or the officials. The goal tend was the only really bad call that determined a game.

What the SMU game shows is this: no matter what they do - hire a hall of fame coach, spend $5M a year on staff, fake HS classes, pay players, etc. - SMU basketball is and always will still be SMU.

Wasn't the Ponies' last NCAA win
In the 70s before Nolan?

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

This was probably SMU's last ncaa visit for a long time after they're put on probation.

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

LSU has taken the lead as the "biggest choke team " today. They missed their last 6 FTs, including the front end of at least one 1 and 1. Their last FG attempt was a missed layup. They did just enough to lose to NC State by 1 point.

Great 1st full day of tourney. There has already been 5 1 point games, 2 OT games & a total of 7 games going down to the last possession. Arkansas-Wofford may end being the 8th great game today.

I cant root against Mike Anderson unless he is playing TU. He wanted to be our coach but we never gave him a shot.

Re: NCAA Tournament Thread

That may be the best 1st day of the tournament in a long time, if not ever. While the committee and P5s keep pushing for more and more P5s and fewer everyone else at-large bids, yesterday just proves the gap is as narrow as ever between the top of the field and bottom of the field.

Wofford actually got screwed with the Delay of Game warning instead of a T being called on the Arkansas player. Not only did it delay the game for 5 minutes, but he actually threw a shoe onto/towards the court. It landed a foot from a Wofford player. Someone chuck a shoe at a referee and see how quickly the fan or player or coach gets tossed? It was extremely dangerous. Not having a T called on Arkansas probably saved them from losing the game.

Someone needs to find out what the hell the Arkansas player was thinking? Heck in the NHL, throwing a broken stick into the stands is a 10-minute misconduct!

Arkansas won because of the refs. It was well officiated until the end.

TU went all elite on Mike. It was a shameful day in Tulsa lore.
