This is the Democratic Party.

Medicare is not private insurance. There are no death panels stocked by people whose job and bonus are dependent on denying paying claims. Medicare has its own problems but the lack of a profit motive in terms of paying claims is not one of them.

Not sure about “death panels” but Medicare often refuses to pay for needed and qualified care. Being non profit doesn’t seem to be a determining factor when it comes to denying necessary care. Both private and Medicare struggle with what should often be easy approvals.

medicare insurance is via uhc. cigna, usaa, ...

Privatize that’s the answer! No way that private insurance has ever screwed over anyone lol.
the current ss system is like the bank telling you you how much you can withdraw and you cant have all the money in your account. some of it must go to people without an account.

The problem you have isn’t with the government program. It’s with insurance in general. The idea that you may not use the full value of what you have paid into the system is the fundamental concept of insurance. You are buying risk mitigation.

my problem is with congress telling me how much of my ss savings i can have and telling me my funds are running out because they gave some of my saving to people who did not contribute to ss.

PRIVATIZE!!!!!

I would argue SS is nothing like insurance in general. At least from a funding perspective. Insurance companies are required to save a portion of those premiums as reserves thus insuring the ability to pay back future claims as they arise. Furthermore, insurance policy terms can rarely be changed during the term of the same to reduce benefits to the policy holder. Contrast both to SS

The internal mechanics might be slightly different, but philosophically, it is insurance. It is everyone paying into a system to insure that in case of disability or in old age where they might not have the savings they would have hoped that they have mitigated risk of becoming completely destitute. The main difference is that everyone is guaranteed some payout but not necessarily at their full level of contribution.

“people who did not contribute to ss”

In your mind, what is the most common reason that people aren’t contributing to SS?

You need to stop looking at some of these things as “your money” and start looking at it like insurance. When you pay a series of premiums to the car insurance company, but you never use your car insurance because you are a safe driver, do they hand you any of that money back?

Let’s say that you make a bad decision and blow your retirement on a bad business venture.… maybe opening a franchise that doesn’t work out… should you be left begging on the street simply because the micro economy didn’t work out for you?

Previous studies have shown that SS and Medicare are propped up by billions paid into the system by undocumented immigrants who cannot collect from the system. Fan is getting a free ride.

We’ve had this discussion previously. There is zero chance that illegals are a net positive from a revenue - expenditure standpoint. California alone spends over $25B per year on social services for non citizens

Krugman says inflation isn’t so bad if you remove food, energy, shelter and vehicles 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

So what Krugman's saying if your the average family of four with a median income and you choose to go live in a cave and either starve to death or live off the land everything is pretty great....

:rofl:Sorry, but that's not for me.

It really just tells me that goods and services aren’t inflating.

I'm with you on that. It just seemed like such a ridiculous attempt of deflection/deception by Krugman. The average mindless/not wanting to be bothered person just doesn't get the full picture when information is presented by "experts" in that manner.

They didn't include furries in the underrepresented groups?

Yeah, that came out last part of April if I recall correctly. Richard Dreyfuss spoke out against those restrictions. If they could, he'd probably be black balled. His last few films and his next one cover all those bases, so they really don't have much of an argument there. I wonder if they consider the aged in those groups, he'd qualify them right there.

Not sure I really understand the rational. Black Americans make up 13.5% of the US population. Anyone who has watched film or TV of late realizes that group makes up more than 13.5% of the actors. Therefore, how is that group “under represented”? Now Hispanics or Asians I would somewhat understand being applied against those quotas. Shall we assume this applies to midgets?

Looks like they are also dictating the subject matter of the films. Crazy stuff happening in Hollywood. We won’t even look at your film unless you satisfy our quotas.

Biden’s lack of cognitive ability is something we’ve never seen in a world leader. Hopefully he either decides not to run in ‘24 or the press and Dems quit covering for him and force such a decision.

I would take government by committee over Trump or DeSantis.

That was a given with you. The problem is without a leader we have no spokesman. No direction. The world is quickly changing and we have no plan. Government by committee just doesn’t work….and heaven help us if 1 year in everyone is finally honest in that Biden simply lacks the cognitive ability to make day to day decisions. Then we have maybe the dumbest individual I’ve ever seen leading this country. The Dems and the press need to be honest and find a primary replacement. Meanwhile

The Republicans need to be honest and find a primary replacement. Lol

Thats what happens when you stick your nose into the Kingdom's bisiness and publicly call them a pariah state...

What they did was wrong, but, in the arab world you dont chastise your loyal friends publicly. Instead you just dont sell them that prize racehorse they want or that camel or that F-15.... you tell them there are breeder issues or production issues while using back channel diplomacy..

In the meanwhile, looks like we may soon have Chinese bases and troops in Cuba. What happens when there’s no one really in charge.

Tit for tat. We sell nuke subs to Oz, increase our military in the Philippines, and beef up public support for Taiwan, while Japan ramps up its military. US still continues to isolate and demonize Cuba. So China puts some troops in Cuba and probably provides financing Cuba can't get anywhere else.. Both sides are seeing each other in increasingly hostile terms. Destined for War?

China has been building islands in the ocean, trying to scare other Asian countries, taking possession of things they don't have a right to, and stealing technology from us & other countries for a jillion years. They are the aggressor. But I'm not surprised you see it differently. We can't just stand by & do nothing.

Knew exactly what was coming once made the post.

Our only poster who supports without exception an authoritarian state in which the Communist Party is the paramount authority and hold practically every significant government position.
