Temple game thread

Sure they were cold, but our first half Defense was the best we’ve played all season and it was pretty good for most of the game. We forced them to make tough shots.

There was talk before the game if the good Temple or the bad Temple would show up...the horrible Temple showed up. Yes, we won by a lot and had some non traditional guys carry the load (Henderson 21, Igbanu 16, Scott 14) but we did not play well. We had 19 turnovers and at the half they had almost 10 more possessions than us. If they had been able to hit the broad side of a barn early the outcome could have been much different. This was a good win for TU but it was not a good game. We need to play much better on Friday, especially Etou, or we might not get the chance at Cincy we want.

That being said the team has been playing well recently and I think we’ll carry the day next Friday whether it’s Memphis or USF.

The announced attendance was 5,303, but a very loud and enthusiastic bunch. Corey Henderson kept the wheels from coming off in the second half with a steal at midcourt at a time when Temple had the momentum on its side. Outstanding for the entire game. Curran Scott is starting to play the way we were hoping for all year.

I really like this team and have enjoyed going to the games all season. If TU doesn't pull off a stunner and win the AAC tournament, I hope we can get an NIT home game...maybe more!

Can you lose by 18 and not look like you played bad? Seems like that’s inherent in getting creamed. I suspect we had a little something to do with that.

Interesting this looks like our best RPI win so far this season. Better than K State.

This game was decided in the 1st 10 minutes. A lot of really good defense by Tulsa and the inability to hit the broad side of a barn by Temple.

Again, the failing to protect the basketball and the resulting high number of turnovers was the only negative to this game.

What is really encouraging is we continue to ID players who can contribute in positive ways. When we were under .500 in conference a lot of us were imploring Haith to only play 7 players, maybe an 8th if necessitated. Right now it’d be hard to convince me that a 9 man rotation is not warranted and I’m not totally against Geno getting minutes to give the bigs a breather. He hasn’t hurt us. The other 9 all make positive contributions to each game.

Cool story bro. You’re part of the pea brain parade that makes it easy to get riled up. You refused to admit we would make the nit just weeks ago.
No, I just refused to admit we would make it at that time because the season hadn't ended yet and we were so inconsistent at the time, I didn't get my hopes up, I'm estatic that we are playing well. Your problem is when anybody points out something that needs to be corrected, you throw a tantrum and start calling people idiots.

I think it’s more about a select handful of posters who are negative about everything no matter what...

Tantrum? When someone today starts babbling and bitching about an 18 point win it’s a little annoying. But I’ll leave you to continue your senseless whining. Wammmmbulanceeeee!

It's not just one post, it's anytime someone says anything that TU didn't do right, for instance, you were blasting people about being worried about the Central Arkansas game in football. We went 2-10 last year... they have good reason

Loca complains a lot? To me , all he did was bring up a reasonable concern only to be blasted by tupatsfan

Dude you know good and well that there are a few posters on here who revel in every negative aspect they can regarding TU. It’s like they can’t wait to see TU do poorly so they can come back here and preach about how they knew it all along.

I do agree with that, but he does that to ANYBODY who says something negative about our play. Is it annoying when someone comes on here and just bashes us? Of course it is, but it's also annoying to get bashed for bringing up something negative as well. Just like in football, we went 2-10, there was reason to be negative

You tell me how he brought up a reasonable concern. I would love to hear it.
We played great the first half and came out and stepped on their throats, in the 2nd half though, instead of finishing them off, we let them cut it to seven. We did end up pulling away and I am glad we did, but the way we started the 2nd half was concerning. Now do I agree had it been Memphis or USF we would have gotten smoked? No, I don't, but you need to learn not to flip out just because someone says something constructive. Actually, that's a great life lesson, we won't get any better if we won't admit our faults to grow from them

Constructive? Lol. You crack me up. Everything you just described was not a valid concern, but you keep right on going.

I’m ysually pretty positive in all of my posts. Am I glad we won? ABSOLUTELY!!! Do I think we played a great game absolutely not. This is my opinion. You don’t like it then move on. Not that hard to do. Obviously we watched two different games today. You saw it one way and I saw it another. I am hopeful to win Friday against whoever we play so we can play Cincinnati on CBS on Saturday. I am still hoping for an NIT bid as to me an NCAA tourney bid is just a bit much. And that is my opinion wether you like it or not I could care less.

What’s actually concerning is you thinking usf or Memphis would have beat us yesterday. I can’t wrap my head around your thinking. But when people typically know they’re wrong about something they’ll dig themselves deeper and deeper into a corner, so you must have a pretty good shovel.

Was it temple playing like “crap” or was it us playing well? Sure we had more turnovers than we’d all prefer but we won the game, they didn’t lose it.
Combination. After bad start Temple was going to throw kitchen sink to force turnovers. If TU had taken better care of Temple's press, the spread would have been 30+. Outstanding D and boards today. Temple is more of an enigma than OU, they're great when the show up, bad when they don't, not much in between. Let them play their game and you're in trouble, take them out of their game and they're in trouble. I think this was TU's best win of season.

I certainly think the last 120 mins of basketball is the best i've seen since Haith took over. If this team can extend the same focus and intensity displayed for 30 min vs UC and Temple to all 40 mins of the game, they can win the AAC tourney and compete against many team already have tickets to the dance.

I believe UC is the toughest team to beat, however, unlike past UC teams, this one looks, softer and more vulnerable against athletic teams thay can shoot. IMO, WSU is the most physical team in the AAC.

Beat UC in semi's and that shot confidence makes TU very dangerous against WSU or UH.

Of the top 4 seeds TU has nothing to lose and everything to gain, it's win the trophy or bust.

Nothing to see here. We let our guard down, got a little sloppy, the crowd fell asleep and Temple made a run. We still kicked ass and would have played a tighter game had we not been built up such a huge lead. We're playing good ball right now and Cincinnati should be nervous.

AMEN. That’s exactly right. Not this, well usf or Memphis would have beat us crap. You sir just made a great post. We are playing great ball, enough said.

We got off to a 24-0 lead against a team that pretty much everybody who isn't a TU fan thinks is better than us. Give Temple credit for not giving up and clawing their way back into the game. Ultimately, we didn't let them get closer than 3 possessions before running it back up to an 18 point lead by the end. This in a game where we were only a slight favorite and then only because it was at the Reynolds Center. We could have played better in the middle when Temple made their run, but overall a great game by our guys.
