TULSA, Okla. –– Fans will have an opportunity to meet the 2023 Tulsa football team at Tulsa Football Springfest on Saturday, April 1, from 11:30-2 p.m. at H.A. Chapman Stadium.

Springfest is FREE admission and open to fans of all ages.

Fans can watch team practice from 11:30-12:30 p.m., then join the Golden Hurricane football team on the field. Festivities will also include bounce houses and other interactive games for kids and adults, food trucks, beer garden and music with a live DJ. Fans will have an opportunity to get autographs with Tulsa players and coaches as well.

Springfest will take the place of the traditional spring game. Tulsa spring drills get underway this week.

Current season ticket holders will have the exclusive opportunity to watch practice from the Case Athletic Building Suite with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.

That whole interaction was so unnecessary. The official press release from TU stated that "Springfest" was replacing the Spring Game; thats no rumor. The KTUL guy was simply doing his job and relaying that info directly from the school. There was no reason to drag him for that. Seems more likely KW and media relations were not on the same page here.

Then, KW turns around and accepts congratulations from an OSU fan blog account. Just weird.

Some of it is warranted some of it isn’t. There have been many instances of the local media (both tv and print) dragging TU through the mud and really trying to perpetuate that we are less than - the little ol TU crap.

However, as of late (besides scoop’s occasional hit piece), I feel like the local media has been a little more kind to us.

A couple of the local sports guys give us way more time/attention than we’ve traditionally received. I know some here don’t care for Kelly, but I think she does ok given her circumstances and constraints at the TW (some of her stories are fluff and lame/pointless, but she does break a lot of news too).

I think with Poplin being the Blitz program director along with Rick in the lineup, I think they give TU its due locally...way more the 97.1 Sports Animal who is so pro OU all the time and when they're not talking about OU, Pat Jones is puking orange the whole time.

Agreed - I usually listen to Rick in the mornings on the way to work and TU is regularly discussed in the same light as osu and ou.

We pay the man to be part of our broadcast team, so it's a win win situation for all involved. We get press, and Rick is able to fill air time utilizing the research that he does to cover game day. Rick Couri is a consummate professional.
