Smoo game thread

Those of you yappin' about The Sequel's stroke, need I remind you of Brett McDade? That thing was awful. AWFUL !!!! And he won a CBI banner!!!1 lol

Great points, TU BLA. Good three-point shooting teams are a nightmare for Tulsa because TU doesn't guard the opposing teams outside shooters very well. Way too concerned with stopping mediocre inside scoring.

In looking at the video on Shake's first three pointer in the second half, when Shake caught the ball, there literally was not a defender within at least 20 feet. After he hit his first three three-pointers, I still couldn't believe he was being left wide open.

As a matter of pride, wouldn't players or coaches, after seeing him hit a few, just be determined he doesn't get another look the rest of the game?

Especially a kid who wouldn't give TU the time of day in recruiting. It was sickening to hear him in the press conference say how good it was to be back home playing in front of family and friends. If he liked it so much, why didn't he stay?

Going into the game, the coaches should have said, we're not letting this little traitor score a point. Period.

Makes me yearn for the days when Herb Johnson trash talked Tisdale all week before Tulsa destroyed OU in 1985 at the Convention Center. And Herb backed up his talk. Herb literally played pro ball until he was 50.

Coach Manning was in the gym, both home and away, for almost every game that Shake played his junior year. There were other circumstances that led him to narrow his choices to other schools though.

He's a good kid and calling him a traitor is quite frankly a bad reflection on our university,

I haven't seen any evidence that he is a good kid. He has made his animosity towards TU personal. He has come to our arena and very vocally trash talked the university before he graduated from HS. His problem with TU is over actions that were his own friends fault, not TU's, but he still finds a way to blame the University for his friend's actions.

I still think that internship that he got because Larry recommended him should be a violation of NCAA rules. If there is some loophole that makes it legal then that loophole should be closed, because in principle it is against NCAA rules,

I've known the Milton family since Shake was in the 4th grade. He's a good kid. The rest of the stuff probably didn't go down the way you think it did.

I'll take your word for it seeing as how I don't know him personally, but I have seen him trash talk at the home game vs SMU his senior year. Granted that may have been just him talking up his team by talking down TU. But it was a bit brutal, and still makes me a little suspicious. I haven't seen any sign of him talking bad about OU. Don't remember if he trash talked OU or TU at the OU game last year, don't even remember whether he was at the OU game. But it could have been because he decided to go to SMU, and that we were in the same conference, that led to that.

My attitude is one that should be echoed in the community. If you're a 'homegrown' talent that Tulsa really wants, and you go to a rival, you're a traitor to the community. How would Alabama fans react when the best recruit from Tuscaloosa went to LSU? They would call him a traitor. The kids around here need to be taught a sense of pride in their community instead of that of Norman or Stillwater. Or, even worse IMHO, Dallas.

Tuscaloosa may react that way but I expect us to act better. Complaining about a college freshman makes us look bad, not him.

I really expected Shake to attend OU and was surprised as anyone when he selected SMU. I kind of felt bad for Coach Kruger and staff who followed him from game to game for over two years. Shake and Coach Manning seemed to have a really good relationship and it's too bad that it didn't work out. He was the best player on the court on Tuesday and is only going to get better.

Too bad he'll sit at home in March because he made a bad decision.

If there's a local player that we don't offer, that comes into the Reynolds Center & shows us we should've recruited him, that is fine.

If there's a local player we did offer & he turned us down, I will definitely be hoping we shut him & his team down. I'd want to make him wish he had signed with TU. I certainly will never be rooting for him to have any success in our arena. If I was coaching TU, he'd be the last guy I'd leave wide open.

Shake may be a good kid. I don't know. However, he may have had an ax to grind against TU after his best friend committed to TU to play qb for the football team and also want to play bball. He was not allowed by Blankenship to play bball and left TU for another school. I don't think Shake appreciated how his buddy former Owasso QB was treated by TU.

Maybe Babe the Blue Ox can correct or add a little insight here since he knows Shake.

Shake's friend felt that he was mistreated academically. It had nothing to do with athletics.

I'd rather not say anything bad about my school. That never goes too well and I don't want the Kielbasa after me. I've been around here longer than most of you and I would like to keep it that way.

Tulsa will get even with Shake/SMU over the next four years.

I'll be surprised if Brown is even the SMU HC next year.

It maybe that Shake might regret his choice.

GO TU!!!!

It's all good. I was just curious. TU pulls a decent amount of BS academically from my (and friends) experience.

Two things from this game...our defense is so worried about stopping the inside basket, it actually helps a good 3 or shooting team. We make it very difficult inside on a lot of teams, but if there is a good guard or big men with good court vision, it's going to beat our style of D every time. .

+1 This quote needs to be remembered by all who have watched us lose by the three over and over again. On target TU_BLA.....
