SIXTH ANNUAL BRACKET CHALLENGE

But I thought they'd get past the 1st game. Haggerty is 0 for his last 14 shooting. He's only gotten to the line 4 times today and he's starting to chuck up ill-advised 3s
Haggerty is the glue on that team. If he has a bad game they fall apart. If they hadn’t bought him they would have been middle of the pack. I figured they would be hungry enough to win a couple of games but I guess not.

And we're seeing why PJ Haggerty is not a real NBA prospect. I understand off shooting days for guys, but he just doesn't have the outside shot needed for his position in the NBA. And his shooting form is so jacked up. He pushed the ball from his chest and it's all arms. He doesn't use his legs properly and I'm actually shocked he doesn't eat the ball more when taking distance shots. His wheelhouse is that 6-12 ft pull up after driving the defender back.

Haggerty’s playing & Penny’s coaching were both horrible today. The rest of the Memphis team was pretty good today. Other than Haggerty, they shot 50% & had 16 offensive rebounds. Haggerty was 7-23, including his only 3 after it was over.

Down goes Memphis, Down goes Memphis. My best day of the year ! All those NBA scouts there to see Haggerty I think left unimpressed. Clifford had a poor game and Colorado State still won. Penny seemed confused the second half when CSU fronted Dainja and closely covered Rogers.

Looking at Penny's "I don't give a shat" look on his face brings me pure joy . There are a mulitude
of high school coaches that are better at their craft than Mr. Dead Pan . You definitely don't
go to Memphis for the coaching .

Mcneese and Drake gone after the 2nd round. Too bad. Now it's down to Colorado St & New Mexico. And if St Mary's pulls an upset on Alabama then they could join whatever crowd is left of the Cinderella's.

No Cinderella this year as far as I’m concerned. For them to be a Cinderella I think they need to be a 14 through 16 seed. According to one set of announcers yesterday this is the first year since the tournament expanded in 1985 that no 13, 14, 15, or 16 seed advanced to the second round.

One Cinderella from a couple years ago, FAU, kinda sorta made the Sweet Sixteen. The head coach & one star (Goldin) made it with Michigan & another star, Johnell Davis, made it with Arkansas. The portal really is making it harder for the little guys.

They both could have made FAU great this year. Examples of the ruin of college basketball.

My definition of Cinderella is a little broader than yours. I consider a Cinderella a 7-16 seed that can't be in the P5 leagues or the Big East. Of course I make an exception for Gonzaga cuz they made their own P5 one team league. Memphis has flirted with that status as well. So would have UConn, but we(TU) held them back, thus they never did anything in the American. I considered our final 8 team to be a Cinderella.

4 of 5 starters for UCLA are first year transfers. They try to pretend it isn’t just about the money by saying the players chose UCLA because of the tradition and not the money.

That would be more believable if UCLA hadn’t help break up the tradition of the PAC-12 for more money with the Big 10!

Is there a successful team in the tournament that is not using the transfer portal and NIL? Arkansas about 5M. Got them a sweet sixteen. He started with zero players when hired. All had left. Would love to see transparency in NIL payments.............. We could all vote on teams that got their money's worth like we can in major league baseball and basketball.

I’m in the middle here. If your seed is double digits then you can be in Cinderella territory.

1st round win for Cinderella needs to be a 14-16 seed.

2nd round win for Cinderella 12-16

Sweet sixteen win for Cinderella 11-16

Elite 8 and on win for Cinderella 10-16

It’s more of a progressive Cinderella. Anyone above that is a favored team or a 9 seed.

I agree with you here, except I stretch Elite 8 to a 7 seed. I would have considered an 8th or 9th seeded Tulsa for example, as a Cinderella if we ever made it to the Elite 8 as one of those seeds. Everything above Elite 8, I agree completely with your seeds. But conference is absolute on being a non P5. Arkansas is not in that realm.
