ORLANDO, Fla. – Tulsa senior guard Shaquille Harrison was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Scholar Athlete of the Year, it was announced at the league awards luncheon Thursday afternoon at the Amway Center. The award is selected by the conference's academic affairs committee.

Harrison, a 6'4" guard from Kansas City, Mo., was named a second-team All-American Athletic Conference selection on Tuesday. He carries a 3.135 grade-point average, and will graduate with a degree in business administration, with a focus in management. He is a three-time member of the Tulsa Dean's List, and has served the community in numerous events, including: Salvation Army Angel Tree, Lift Up America, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, and Kendall-Whittier Reading Partners Program.

Harrison leads the Golden Hurricane with 5.5 rebounds per game, and averages 14.8 points, 4.1 assists and 1.9 steals per contest. He put up 12.8 points, 5.7 boards and a league-leading 5.2 assists and 1.8 steals per conference game. Overall, he ranks first in the league in steals, fifth in assists and eighth in scoring. He has started all 131 career games, and ranks third all-time at TU with 242 steals and 453 assists. He is the only Tulsa player to ever compile 1,300 points, 400 assists and 200 steals during his career
