Before we collectively beat ourselves up I saw this interesting stat

Only 12 teams have played 11 Quad 1 & 2 games Tulsa is one of those 11.

Here are the teams and records:

Illinois 13 games 8-5
Wisconsin 12 games 8-4
Purdue 12 games 7-5
Kentucky 12 games 3-9
Alabama 11 games 9-2
Ohio State 11 games 7-4
Kansas 11 games 6-5
Tulsa 11 games 5-6
Indiana 11 games 5-6
Rutgers 11 games 5-6
Maryland 11 games 3-8
Boston College 11 games 1-10

By the way Lunardi has everyone of these teams in the Tourney but Tulsa, Kentucky and BC lol

GO TU!!!!

Lunardi would not have us in if we were 9 and 2 in quad like Alabama it’s still the story of they are in a weak conference not a p5 or big east

I don’t think it’s that interesting when you take a look at the NET. Notice why TU and BC are left off the bracket?

Illinois 13 games 8-5 -NET 7
Wisconsin 12 games 8-4 - 16
Purdue 12 games 7-5 - NET 30
Kentucky 12 games 3-9 - NET 81
Alabama 11 games 9-2 -NET 10
Ohio State 11 games 7-4 -NET 15
Kansas 11 games 6-5 - NET 19
Tulsa 11 games 5-6 - NET 87
Indiana 11 games 5-6 -NET 48
Rutgers 11 games 5-6 - NET 34
Maryland 11 games 3-8 -NET 40
Boston College 11 games 1-10 - Net 132

So you think Maryland 9-8 overall 3-7 in the B-10 and 3-8 Quad 1&2 record deserves an at large?

Go TU!!!

We take care of business and have no more Temples then that stat might hold more weight in March than many think.

Oklahoma beat Alabama by 6 today
Pooh is still the assistant at ou I sure wish we would’ve given him a real chance not just a few months when Phillips emptied the cubbard and quit he has been an assistant ever since great guy who I knew personally

Pooh the greatest guy we all know. But he has not been offered another head coaching job since Tulsa Interim. Even left behind a couple of times when head coach advanced. Sometimes the nicest guys are not aggressively mean in today’s dog eat dog recruiting. I can’t see Pooh chewing someone out like Self does. I still have huge respect for him and feel he was not given much help in succeeding at TU. He inherited the worst TU team of the century but he did help recruit those players.

I got what the original point was but the last line of your post is what I referred to

His point about Maryland is right on though and those thinking we have no chance should take into consideration how the NET is constructed. Lunardi won't release what he really thinks till almost the tournament right now it's about clicks which is why Maryland is in.

Those Big 10 teams getting held up by the built in NET bias will not be getting bids with terrible quad 1 and 2 records sitting near .500 they either need to go like 16-11 or have a close to even win loss quad record to take a bid. Otherwise you will see the number three and four teams in the PAC, Big East, AAC take that bid with a better record and better quads wins.

They will get in over teams like Loyola Chicago who get upset a couple times, have gaudy overall win records but limited q1 and q2 opportunities. So will AAC/BE/P5 teams with good records and more quad wins then Loyola had opportunities. That's the traditional committee decision in those situations.

I would still put Maryland in over Tulsa if the season ended today, if I was on the committee.

The stuff guys like Lunardi and Palm say does unfortunately create and drive a narrative though. That’s how we ended up with a week of outrage by the media for the committee putting us in the tourney over Monmouth back in 2016 even though we had an as good or better resume by the committee’s objective criteria.
