Lot of guys hitting the portal already, I haven't heard any of ours yet. Probably aren't a lot of interest for our guys, portal is kind of a "sell low" situation for most. I would have thought some tough conversations would have happened by now, though.

The basketball portal doesn’t officially open until March 24.

Nash & Reed have both said they’re entering the transfer portal. I’m sure they’ll be more.

After watching some games today, Konkol needs to recruit heavily if we’re going to turn things around.

We were a bad offensive team but we are most behind on defense compared to tournament teams. Pretty obvious

Got to have Creighton type shooters and Memphis rim protectors. That's about 1.5M

I'd much rather have Houston type defenders and rebounders. We had a couple and ran them off and now they're making a run with McNeese State. The 1999-2000 team could just flat out defend which is why they were successful. We won games in bad shooting nights because we could still stop teams from scoring.

Watching Memphis right now...they're not built that way. They're pretty bad defensively on the perimeter and Colorado State is taking Haggerty's ability to drive and get fouled away. And the fact that Penny has rim protectors and the difference in the game right now is CSU's 3pt shooting, Memphis should be switching to an extended zone pushing CSU further from the basket and taking their chances with the ball getting inside. (And seriously, right on cue, with under 4 left and down 7, Memphis played an extended zone and forced a turnover).

I erased it twice it keeps coming back
Did you edit it or delete it. If you delete it, it asks you to confirm the delete by clicking on the delete button at bottom center of the Delete Post box that shows up in the window , right below the unnecessary Reason for Deletion box.

I have my suspicion about Hadley’s destination.

After 3 incredible years at Tulsa, I have decided to look for more money .
As all of you know , GREED isn't gender specific and I really don't care
what kind of degree I earn .
I'm gonna be honest, if the mods of another board offered me $50k to post there and not here, I'd ditch you losers in a heartbeat... But I wouldn't do it for $500, so you have tradeoffs. And I wouldn't go to the OSU board for any amount of money.

Criticizing players for leaving TU and taking the money while praising players for leaving their current team for TU due to money has to be the definition of a true fan :) ….and it’s currently occurring at hundreds of schools across the country

The uncertainty and lack of regulation / process around kids moving is what’s causing the problem.

You have a greater sense of loyalty with pro athletes now because they actually have contracts with their organizations. There are rules on trades, drafts, salary caps, etc…

The fact that we made college sports ‘professional’ without installing any of the professional governance structures common processional leagues really ruins the game.

I’d hold out for some UH Tilman Furtitties money.

As quickly as the announcement from the time she said she was in the portal until Clemson announced her commitment, tells me something was fishy there and likely some tampering going on.

Agree. Guess good for her? Get paid and graduate from a top 80 national university .

There’s no doubt that almost all of these athletes have people reaching out on their behalf prior to entering the portal. Just is what it is

Like Iameleava at Tennessee contacting coaches to see what his NIL money would be if he decided to enter the portal? Good on Dan Lanning from Oregon for letting Heupel know...it's also a a CYA move by Lanning. And with that he probably subverted Iameleava's efforts to go underground and find a higher paying gig. Some desperate team will take him and pay him now but I bet it's not a top 10 school and it certainly won't be an SEC school (conference forbids intra- conference transfers...now if other conferences would install that rule as well).

I would go to the OSU forum for free if I was allowed to just hardcore troll those sheepfornicators.

I assume Hadley and Sydni Means have a close relationship from Sydni’s two years coaching her. I bet they were the very first ones to reach out, so no surprise it went so fast. Good for Hadley!

Kirby Smart discussed these crazy Zoom calls arranged by agents/players' representatives in groups. I would love for someone to record it.

At the same time, I still can't get past these the coaches bitching and getting paid 10-15 million. Now you've got assistants clearing 2-3 million and even weight-lifting guys clearing 500-1,000,000. Sorry, dudes. Jerry Schmidt clears 700k in Norman and Rob Glass clears 1.1 million.

The whole thing is gross, considering these are supposed to be academic institutions, not professional sports teams. It is all very, very, very weird.

According to the interwebs, Venables gets paid $8.5m per year, the average teacher salary in OK is $53k (Venables = 160 teachers) and Union has 156 high school teachers so Venables is more valuable to the state than the entire Union high school.

Hiring an agent who contacts schools on your behalf who enter into preliminary discussions before you go into the portal isn’t tampering. It’s smart.

I also have a problem with coaches salaries but at least they have contracts. Players have no contracts to bind them to the school and can leave at will without consequence. The NCAA has been neutered and university Presidents have refused to stand up to the whole mess. There is no focus on academics for the athletes (do they even measure progress to graduation anymore?), salaries of coaches relative to other university or state employee (for public schools) is obscene, TV has driven conference alignment that has teams traveling cross country multiple times per month, it is all out of control.
