ORU THREAD

Once again, brilliant move keeping Haith , TU...... NOT!

They have others who can shoot.
Abmas scored 27 of their 42 2nd half points. I’ll stay with my earlier comment. I’ve seen ORU play 3 other games before this one. We should have denied Abmas the ball & double teamed whenever possible.

Do we not practice guarding against the 3 ball? I bet if you checked the stats for Haiths teams at Miami Missouri are they also the worst in the nation.

Haith teams at TU are historically bad at guarding the 3. Not surprising we lost to a team that shoots the 3 anong the best in the country.

19 3s and the bit players were unconscious
Except for misses around the basket TU played well on offense
Griffin never got hot until late
Hate losing to these lovely folks and their student body yelling TU Sucks
ORU’s administration should be embarrassed

Actually... I am right 99.98% of the time.
I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

ORU is Tulsa's team these days. It sucks. But that's wha( TU gets for doing the SAME thing and expecting different results. It's insanity. And I will continue to call out the obvious.

Kind of like complaining about the same things over and over and over again when you know nothing is going to change - insanity.

Half of their possessions are one dude taking step back 3s. What are you talking about?
Last I checked....
He plays for ORU --- and led them to a Sweet 16 last year. So... what's your point?

Plus, every one of those ORU players can hit the 3. That changes the game. That helps to even out mismatches and makes them able to beat 99% of all D1 teams on any given night.

I didnt even care enough to check the schedule to see this game was happening. I used to sit out in the cold in my truck to listen because I couldn't get radio signals in my farm house. Sad...

I haven't been vested much in basketball since I was a kid and Tulsa went to sweet sixteen and beat Oklahoma State in the early 90s. Based on what I'm reading on here, Haith has similar affinity that Monty has on the football side of things... I know nothing about college hoops, but isn't basketball the only thing that ORU excels at? I remember going to the Mabee center as a kid and they had all these huge portraits of these ORU players from the 70s with massive afros who must've done something impressive to be immortalized.

They certainly don’t excel at academics.

They might as well be considered a D league basketball team.

So essentially, Tulsa is losing to D league teams in basketball.
Hence, we're underperforming from that standpoint as well?

I think they have had a pretty good baseball program as well. A few guys make the majors.

They are pretty small this year if a couple of young guys on the bench can't come on later in the year.

Really missing Kevin Obanor who transferred to TX Tech and is doing well there. He is the big they are missing and had a very good tourney run last year.

Abmas can get going and almost beat OSU by himself as well. They manhandled him a bit in that game.

Horne was something else last night for Tulsa! Just played incredible.

Thanks to the late bogus foul play when the great assmus dribbled the ball off his blessed foot the refs gave the Titans the win.
The ORU students were rude and blasphemous and the refs always always favor the home team.
I have long been and remain in favor of stopping this series or putting this low major conference team in its place.
TU should never play in Mabee. Ask Self about the referees, the disgusting obscene cheers from the ORU students and why a TU win ever helps us.

ORU students repeatedly yelled TU Sucks.
It’s happened for years and is unacceptable.

cancel the series or refuse to play in the cesspool of religious hypocrisy on 81st.

Unfortunate we lost. Not too surprising though. Still waiting to be wowed by Frank and his staff going on a decade now...

Let's stop pretending ORU is the only place that yells teams suck. Ive been to plenty of TU games where our students yell the same thing. It is what it is, some of you need to get off your high horse. We havent done a damn thing in basketball lately to act all high and mighty. Where ORU was a shot away from the elite 8 last year. Should probably wait until we can actually say weve made the tourney before acting like we're better then anyone

And also observe what winning can do for external funding!!!

My wife and I visited Houston at their old basketball arena and the student section yelled right at us "F&^%$K TULSA".

It happens everywhere.

GO TU!!!!

What bothered me almost as much as the loss was that attendance was double what we had the last game at the Reynolds Center.

Seems totally rational.
I’ll never understand TU “fans” that won’t go to a game because the team isn’t good enough for them. I’m driving 7 hours to Boise on Friday to watch, spending the night then driving back Saturday. Same team, same record.

Losses are too painful for travel now and happen too often. So I would say after 18 years of patience my enthusiasm level is down.

I did this travel in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999,2000, 2001, 2002. Those were really good teams to travel to see and all had NCAA tournament capability.

I’m talking about the folks that won’t travel across town to watch the team they root for. see the two posts above mine.
