Todd Graham brought in the greatest overall talent at TU since the 1940's . Even then some posters
thought he was too gruff and mean to the players, never mind the successful seasons we had under
his regime. I never saw his players"give up" during a game or season like this 2024 bunch , it's hard
to comprehend getting beat six times by over 30 points unless there is a talent shortage .

To the extent people had problems with Graham, it was bc his teams couldn't play defense and he couldn't win the big game. I think people would have preferred that he not be as much of an A hole but I don't recall anyone saying he should be fired or anything
IDK about Gundy but usually if something seems borderline it's bc the employer only discloses the tip of the iceberg. Everyone, including the employer, looks bad if the full iceberg is disclosed so it's self-preservation by all sides. My vote is no sloppy seconds from OSU. From what I recall, he used the word multiple times after reading it on the I-pad. I believe that coach Venables confirmed that part of the story when accepting his resignation.
I would be interested to see if we reach out to someone like Alley or Albin if Brennan isn't available.

Haith & Wilson yes, Monty sort of, but not really. We gave Monty a first chance when no one had given him that chance for years. Konkol wasn't a second chance. It was a promotion to a better school when he was doing fairly well in his first job as head coach. That's not a second chance in anyone's book except maybe yours.
I just hope the same "selectors" near the A.D. are not involved this time. Let him make his own decision and then get the OK from Carson and keep others out. I know Arkansas had "selectors" but they were named John Tyson $ 5 MIL a year to Cal and Wal-Mart several MIL. If we have that money, I might reconsider some influence.

Coach Scott Symons 3rd yr DC of SMU, B4 that he was DC for Liberty University & worked w/ Safeties & linebackers. B4 that Memphis Linebacker coach. This yr’s SMU team recorded 2 shut outs & 47 sacks. Named to Dave Campbell's Texas Football 40 Under 40 List in 2022 and currently nominated for Frank Broyles award. Also, being considered for FSU DC.

Should have left it at Haith and Wilson. Monty was a 1st time HC with us...and Konkol was moderately successful at LaTech and saw this as a move up.
Why not just go after Kliff Kingsbury...he's Lincoln Riley 1.0 or Lincoln Riley is KK 2.0
I don’t know why anyone would leave the NFL to go back to college. You are dealing with Pro problems without pro contracts at this point.
I will be extremely disappointed if it's Spavital. I mean he flamed out at Texas State so what makes you think he could recruit and dig TU out of the hole Wilson has dug us into? Symons I'd be OK with but as many have mentioned, he better have a plan for the offensive side of the ball.

Because some guys just need to be the man in charge and I think KK ultimately wants to be the head honcho somewhere again. He's not likely to get that chance in the NFL again (then again the NFL loves to just pass failed HCs around from team to team rather than bringing in new blood, some find success and many do not. The NFL is more about putting together the right roster from year to year....Pete Carroll was bad in New England and even worse in New York and had to go back to college to find success before the Seahawks gave him another chance where he was able to hit on some defensive players and struck gold with a 3rd round QB. Kingsbury may have to go that route if he wants another shot in the NFL).
I bet he gets another shot in the NFL after this season or next. NFL has a long history of that.

Spav may get another shot...but here and now is not the right time for that 2nd chance. I think most would agree we need a splash hire who can recruit, hire quality assistants, and can excite the fans to show up to games.
I don't want to get too hung up on the little details, but when was the last time Spav coached at a school that won more than 8 games in a season?

Jake Spavital's father Steve Spavital was a jerk to me and my son several years ago at a playoff game in BA. He gets a hard no from me just based on that interaction.
