New Basketball Commit

Didn’t Rachal come from Pearl River? If he’s another Rachal I’ll take it!
Seems like a bit of a different player than Rachal. Not sure we've had one like him in quite a while.

His HS / Wichita highlights make him look like a taller (more athletic?) version of Darien Jackson. He gets to the right places at the right times.

Nice player. Not sure where he’ll play, unless he’s better than Early. Competition will be tough. I hadn’t seen this. Thanks for posting.

We actually will have a complete, nice looking roster next year. Whoda think it?

Arkansas, Iowa State, and Tennessee offers out of HS. I'm a fan.

Will be a good dig against Wichita St if he kills it against them.

Nothing brand new, but I asked about Rodgerick on the Wichita boards. Summing it up: High motor guy with great rebounding ability, that didn't get the shot he probably deserved in Wichita. The negatives, NOT a shooter, and not a phenomenal ball handler. Like we need another non shooter on the roster. Hopefully his motor is up there with Jackson's.

I wanted a shot blocker. Don't know about that. Shooting hanging on Gendron, KES, Haywood, and Hill.

I think he'll be grand, It just it would be nice, but not a deal breaker, if he could shoot too.

I agree on where we'll have to look for shooters. Jackson and Rachal aren't looking to shabby in that area either. I'm sure their abilities will improve a little bit next year as well.

I’m not worried about not having shooters. I’m worried about not having true post players. Our forwards / center will be: Horne, Ugboh, Earley and that’s basically it. I’m guessing Brown is being recruited as a small ball 4 but that’s could be outside his wheel house.

Yeah, all of the above....But don't forget about Horne either....He has
not only been a money shooter, but has learned a lot more about our
match-up, and has been a bright light on the defensive end in both
rebounding and moving to the right spots on defense....

As to Hill, I have seen a maturity in him, especially the last two games,
that speaks well for the future.....I like the fact that he comes across the
half court line, dribbles to a position to balance the floor, and gets rid of
the ball....Usually, as a result of his quick decision to start the play,
Rachal, Jackson, and Horne all get to touch the ball, with Igbanu as an
option......

We all know we need another 'big'....Hopefully one that can make the
center of our match-up even better.....It is remarkable that our zone is
as effective as it is without a rim defender/rebounder in the middle...
It doesn't hurt that Jackson and Rachal thrive in this defense, and
that Joiner, Horne, and Hill have all shown defensive improvement...
Korita, of course, has been a good zone defender for a couple of
seasons.....

Ugboh and Earley will be better at rebounding, shot blocking, defense, and hopefully offense. They both will have that sophomore bounce. Yes I realize it will be Ugboh's senior year, but he is behind schedule as far as how long he has been playing and for whom, so I see a sophomore bounce two years behind schedule. We do need a forward/center or both though. I have a feeling Jones isn't long for this team.

I hope we're going after a PF/C as well.
Brown is a high-motor player that can be used at the 3 or 4 and is active around the basket. He's shooting 65 percent from the field and has not taken any threes in 12 games this season. As you can tell from his coach's quotes in our article, they think very highly of him. Brown isn't a big, but he's a good rebounder.

The last scholarship should go to a big. TU has been on the road recruiting...in fact, they watched a kid last night. Bill Lowery has been keeping info up to date in Hurricane Alley, and I'm probably going to do a story on some of the targets this week.
