Research from Penn State and an Australian university indicates that about half of the 236M people who got Covid worldwide suffered 'long Covid' or debilitating mental and physical symptoms for as long as six months or a year.

That is likely a significant contributor to unemployment for the 48M American's who contracted Covid in the US. It's not that they don't want to work, but can't because of physical issues or an inability focus. IOW Covid didn't just kill nearly 800K Americans, it could have debilitated 12 to 24 million people who are likely at the bottom of the economic scale, tired and unable to advocate for themselves. Another drain on our health care system and factor leading to long term unemployment and more debt.

Evidently vaccines help by preventing Covid; other benefits are unclear.

All the more reason to focus on avoiding Covid completely.
