We have needed to drop ORU for multiple reasons for at least 20 years. Get it done.

If we drop ORU then no one associated with TU has any right to complain about any arrangements with OU/OSU/Arkansas in football or basketball.

Again, we win, it's good.
We lose, we cry? We want to quit? Really?

Say what you want to say about Lunardi but he usually gets the right teams in it just seems like his seeding is always off. You guys need to go 3-1 minimum these last 4 games. If you lose tonight you guys are done. Good luck and let's play again in the conference fournament.
Does he not realize that Tulsa is tied for first place in the AAC (at least in the loss column).

I still say Tulsa is in ahead of Temple or Cincy as of now.

But rather than beat up AAC teams look at some other conferences.

He has 8 B-10 teams in the dance. The last three are:

Illinois #56
Purdue #59
Iowa #57

I think Cincy, Temple and Tulsa should be ahead of LSU #50, Texas #41 and UCLA #48.

Time will tell.

GO TU!!!!

Regardless of the result, this is a lot more fun to discuss than whether the team will get invited to the CBI.

We should stop complaining anyway. It just creates a wider gap in public perception.

If we win it isn't good. It is just nothing. It doesn't help us in any way.

There are some game you need to play, TU should always play ORU from a media relations standpoint and for the City. Back in Nolan/DI\ick Acres years, TU and ORU played twice a year. If anything TU only play DII games in the preseason.

Most TU supporters wish OU and OSU should always play TU. During the Tubby, Rob, Self, and Buzz years both big state schools avoided TU like the plague. IIRC, Eddie play 1 home and with Tubby, a deal Eddie undoubtedly agreed to when Tubby first took over, and Kelvin invited Tubby and Rob to his All-College Tourney a few times.

TU used to always play the All College Tourney when it was a 4 team tournament deal. We stopped getting invited when 1) TU beat the crap out of OU somewhere around '96 and 2) When it went to the 2 games, 1 night showcase.

I would love to see this come back as the 4 D-1 Oklahoma schools in a 2-night round robin. TU vs. OU, ORU vs. OSU 1 night, and TU vs. OSU, ORU vs. OU the next. Switch between the Peake and BOK in alternating years. And they should absolutely bring back the Bertha Teague Classic on the women's side. I went one year and it was great basketball to watch.

I've been pondering this and I think the lack of respect is good for this gauntlet finish. We play better with that chip on our shoulder, as the dark horse. That's been the case as long as I've followed Tulsa bball...we can lose focus without that motivation.

Bring it, Lunardi!

Why can't the Tulsa Sports Commission
Put some Thanksgiving( All College) basketball weekend event together
where u rotate OU, OSU, Ark & Tulsa as host

One night, 2 games, 4 teams

One of the Big 3 playing Tulsa (or Tulsa plays a KU/Kent/Duke type team)
& one of the other schools playing another local regional team
(WSU, Mizzu St, N Tex Mo KC, ORU, ect)

The City of Tulsa is a top 10 event "happening" place right now.
Tons of family in town that weekend
as well as tons of OU, OSU, Ark fans just hanging out!

After u see the Big turnout 4 the Big 12 B-ball Tourney
it'll make me cringe 2 think how a TU baseball team
could B hosting some weekends @ OneOk Park
in the Sringtime,

& as we all know,
Tulsa Downtown is a happen' place these days

Tulsa is #35 in CBS RPI and #41 in ESPN RPI.

Illinois lost last night to Iowa drops to # 59 RPI in both ESPN and CBS.

I would not include Illinois as of now.

GO TU!!!

Just don't see how you can justify Purdue/Illinois/Davidson/UCLA/Oregon over TU, if TU wins 2 more- same thing with all teams- horrible in non-conference, in fact we have better wins than Davidson or UCLA for the non-conference. Look at the schedule- to me you can't finish in the middle of the conference with a bad or soft non-conference. I understand Purdue is near the top, but they have 3 TOUGH games left. (tougher than us imo)

I agree dmarsh, Purdue's non conference RPI is #185, Oregon #94, UCLA #106, Iowa #116. Only Davidson has a better non conference RPI at #70. Tulsa is #91.

I think we are in better shape than Lunardi thinks.

AAC is probably going to get three teams in maybe four. Probably depends on how Temple/Tulsa/Cincy compare down the line and in the AAC Tourney.

I like our chances.

Simple eye test...UCLA is not very good, Illinois is terrible, and Oregon just got demolished. While we struggled early, we are 13-2 in the last 15 and what do we always hear "how well have they been playing?" The B1G outside of Wisconsin and Maryland, the league's next 4-5 are avg. at best. Hate people crediting equal mediocrity as parity and excellence.

We know the Big East split & lost some major players
But here's a recap of the last 3 years
@ Large Bid selection for the NCAA Basketball Championship
For the # of nonP5 schools selected

In 2014:
AAC got 3
A 10 got 5
Big East 3
MWC 1
WCC 1

In 2013:
Big East 7
A 10 got 4
MWC 4
MoV 1
Sun Belt 1
WCC 1

In 2012:
Big East 8
A 10 got 3
MWC 3
WCC 2
C USA 1
MoV 1

Notice in 2012 & 13,
18 @ large bids went to nonP5 Conferences
of course almost half went to the 'ol Big East each yr.

In 2014, the total # of @ large bids to nonP5
went down from 18 in 2012/13 to only 13 total @ large bids

I’m no expert, like many on this board
but speculating on this yrs @ large nonP5 bids

Big East up to 5
MoV 1
MWC 1 or 2
WCC 2
A 10 up to 4
AAC 2

16 total @ most for @ large bids to nonP5 Conferences

That’s also assuming
the fav’s from each of those conferences
wins their conference tourney

A couple of conference tourney upsets,
I’m sure they’ll punish the nonP5’s vs. P5 @ large teams

Interesting comparison on the nonP5 bids.

I noticed the bracket matrix of 96 projections has us as the very first team out. We're only in 1/3 of the brackets included.

We need to leave no doubt.

The non-P5 bids have been very consistent. 4 of the 18 bids in 2013 went to teams now in P5 conferences. The 2013 number reflects that move. Taken that into account we can expect 13 or 14 non P5 bids imo.

Maybe talking heads say this, but I don't think the selection committee cares. They removed Last 10 games from the selection sheet and have repeatedly emphasized "the entire body of work" in the post-selection interview.

RPI Forecast is projecting Tulsa losing at Memphis and SMU winning against Cincy.

Final conf. record of 14-4, overall record of 21-8.

End of regular season RPI #38.

Makes me wonder if we pull off the Memphis game could finish in the low 30's?
