Iowa State Fan coming into town for the UCF Game. Any suggestions?

Had a wonderful time meeting this wonderful young couple! They had very interesting stories. I tried to give a little history of the school and the sports programs, as well as the city. They really enjoyed their visit to Tulsa, and spent time checking out downtown and the campus.

You were more optimistic about a win than we were! I was really pulling for a W for Iowa State vs OU—I’m sure y’all will be discussing going for 2 at the end for a long time.

Glad you enjoyed your visit. It was a real pleasure visiting with you and your wife! Enjoy your future travels.

Going for 2 is the right call against OU in that situation. Chances of winning in OT in Norman is small and stopping OU from scoring a TD is even smaller. At 5-3 coming in, Iowa State wasn’t winning the conference championship but they did have a chance for a marquee win and to end the stupid OU in the CFP talk.

Maybe. The problem with that is that you have given yourself only one play to win. In overtime, you have multiple chances to win.

It’s how the modern game has changed. We were raised to think of that situation like you do. Give yourself multiple chances to win. But the rules have changed and the offenses have changed so the thinking changes. The passing rules favor the offense so thats a high percentage play given the athleticism at that position in the modern era. And at that distance from the goal, you can scheme +1 in the running game since RPO with a pass wide will be a threat. So the odds favor you with the ball on a single play that OU won’t get a chance to respond to —- if your kids can handle the crowd and pressure.

Having multiple chances to convert just gives OU multiple chances to respond and at home and with more capable personnel.

I’d look for the one play with the one physical matchup against OU I know I can win, tell my kids the greatest lesson I’ll teach them is always go balls out and see what happens.

After watching LSU and Alabama , OU needs to be counting their blessings to be OUT of the CFP, they would get killed.

I'm pretty much of the mindset that they should screw the playoff this year as, IMO, LSU and Ohio State have separated themselves from everyone else pretty clearly. Bama fought back but I think that was a combo of desperation from Bama and LSU simply trying to hold them off. When LSU figured out they needed to score again, they did so pretty easily.

And the LSU DC should get reamed by Orgeron for that late long TD. Seriously, that is where you play a deep cover 2 and keep everything in front and make them use some clock. Allowing a 1 play TD in that situation is just awful.

I'm not counting out the Cinderella of the ball against Ohio St in the Big 10 championship.(If you have to ask who, then you aren't following college football very well.)

Minnesota? I've been watching them. They're extremely physical up front and their DBs are really physical. But if I'm honest I don't think they have the speed and athleticism to keep up with Ohio State, especially on a neutral field.

I like PJ Fleck though. Good coach and very confident in his players.

At this point all I can say is they are a big step up from the other team everybody (falsely) thought might give them trouble.(Penn St) I'm definitely going to be watching that game.(Big 10 championship) Always rooting for Cinderella.

I’m going to the Rose Parade this year and am hoping the Minnie gets the Big 10 invite to the game if they’re not in the playoff. They haven’t been in almost 60 years and I’m sure that fan base would be thrilled for a California trip.

My wife and I went to the Parade of Roses two years ago and it was fantastic. We booked a tour package and I would like to do it again.

My oldest daughter was in the 2011 parade and my son will be in it this year. Getting an invitation is a pretty big deal here.

Tua won a national Championship throwing a hole shot against cover 2. Every one in the SEC defense booths will never forget it. You can do that but his arm will burn you.

My old trial partner is in Mankato. If they go, he’s taking the whole firm and their families. He’s got reservations for 80 some plane tickets. Yeah. They’re excited up there.

I still think you need to do whatever you can to try to keep it in front. If the WR makes a play to elude tacklers in position, that's one thing. That DB got torched and there was no help. Looked like the Falcons trying to stop the Patriots comeback 3 years ago ;)

I know Bama is loaded with players...but so is LSU. There's a reason why LSU went in and beat them down for a half before holding on.

Considering the result, maybe we should invite this Iowa State fan back as a good luck charm. Anyone want to donate season tickets to him? lol
If you give me a bottle of that bourbon he wanted, I promise I’ll give it to him later.
