The Shockers are on to NYC after defeating #1 seeded Indiana. I'm not sure who did the better coaching job this year between Marshall and Sampson. These guys are elite! Marshall had to remake his roster, find the right combination of players, apply his offensive and defensive principals, and play a very difficult schedule. At the end of the year the Shockers have beaten Furman, Clemson, and Indiana all on the road. I am so jealous of what WSU has managed to do and it begins and ends with Coach Marshall. The suitors will come calling again, and it will be interesting to see what happens.

If he does leave, look for Chris Jans at New Mexico State to be a frontrunner. Jans is a former Marshall assistant and has done a heck of a job at New Mexico State in an absolutely terrible conference.

Marshall’s a different cat. Going to take a certain type of job to lure him away.

He isn't leaving, he makes 3+ million a year, gets whatever he asks for, now competes in a multi-bid league, gets 10,000 fans even on a down year and is the only show in town. This is a Mark Few Gonzaga type relationship.

Kansas? If Bill leaves because of this investigation, there’s a possibility.

Also, Arizona (will be) and UCLA are open. Arizona isn’t quite a blue blood but is as close as you can be without being one. UCLA is UCLA.

Marshall isn’t going to step down to a mid-major conference just when he got to the big time, rules UCLA and Arizona out.

I have to agree. Very few jobs would pay him more or provide a better experience for him and his players. I think getting into a multi bid conference is the last thing needed to make WSU his retirement job. Seeing what he’s done with a roster of mostly young raw players makes me think he’ll be in the dance pretty much every year from now on.

Arizona has a top 5 recruiting class coming in. I think their coach stays.

Side note, USF is doing pretty good in the CBI, they are in the final four and play C Carolina next.

He may not have a choice. That program was one of those at the center of the FBI investigation and while it wasn’t “team 6” level he’s been acting like he’s on the way out.

Interesting sidenotes on the Shocker run to MSG. This is the first time that a team has beaten a #3, #2, and #1 seed on the road to reach the NIT final 4. Aside from McDuffie, the Shocker roster had a combined 300 minutes of Division 1 basketball experience.

Pretty sure he already turned down UCLA and got a private jet out of it. Arizona will be a dumpster fire shortly.

He called KU chickenhawks and their program may be looking at some big time issues.

Really there isn't anywhere but maybe Gonzaga or a Big East school where he can be the top dog. Most of them aren't paying what Wichita is and while a few blue bloods are, he isn't a cultural fit for anywhere but maybe Indiana, and all those schools have football.

Touche! I agree that the Pac-12 is a train wreck, but history has Arizona as a top 25 job nationally, and UCLA a top 5 job (Steve Alford's downfall was being involved with the Balls).

Personally, I wouldn't get anywhere near Arizona with a 20 ft pole right now. I think Miler is getting fired for his involvement with the adidas/Ayton thing and then program is probably going to get 3 years probation and a year no postseason, and will probably lose 2 scholarships per year for the next 3 years. We're not talking too many text messages to recruits. We're talking Blue Chips level recruiting violations. Same with Louisville when it's all said and done except they'll get an extra year of postseason ban (which they were hoping to avoid by firing Pitino and the AD). The 'Ville is lucky the NCAA is really hesitant to ever slap the death penalty on anyone because they would be the textbook candidate for 2 major recruiting violations in less than 5 years.

UCLA can be a good gig if you can avoid Lavar Ball and any of his influence.

Good points. I like Marshall and his intensity and he seems to be a good fit at WSU. He's also a great x's and o's guy.

I thought the same thing about Penn St football... Arizona will give a long contract with a huge buyout to whoever they go after. They’ll get someone good. But it’ll be expensive if they miss.

Penn State's hires after the JoePa crap have both been positives. Bill O'Brien had them heading in the right direction. James Franklin can just flat out coach and recruit.
