ITS GAMEDAY!!! Tulsa men host the Division 2 Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs at the Reynolds Center. This is the last non-conference game of the season. This game does not count against the NET but that doesn’t mean we need to take it easy on them. Last night Little Rock pulled out the win against Tennessee Tech 81-75

Todays games

ORU starts league play tonight traveling to Kansas City.
South Carolina State is at Nebraska
Jackson state is at Northwestern
Tulane hots NAIA school in Dillard of Louisiana.

AND ONE

Its time to start thinking about your new years resolutions. You know the ones you wont keep. Lol. Try to focus on those goals that you can obtain. It will make the larger ones easier to get too but starting with the smaller ones.

Nebraska up on South Carolina State 85-38 with 6:41 to play

Northwestern is up on Jackson State 54-43 5 minutes into the second half

Kansas City is taking ORU to the woodshed 48-26 4 minutes into the second half

Good large win last night over a Division 2 opponent. A lot of the guys that don’t get to see the floor played including Radford coming in with about 2:30 left and hitting a 3. I even cheered for that. IT was the most exciting 3 minutes of that game. Lol. The non-conference is over now and we can focus on conference play starting with Memphis who clearly are the best team in the conference right now.

Today’s games

Great basketball on tap for the day.

#2 Kansas takes on Wichita State in Kansas city.
#7 Florida Atlantic travels to Florida Gulf Coast

Loyola Chicago beats central Michigan 73-35. Pritchard went 3-17 for 8 points in the loss.

Missouri beats central Arkansas 92-59

Kansas beats Wichita state 86-67

Tennessee state over Little Rock 90-82

San Francisco demolished Mississippi valley 92-42

Game plan for average to subpar teams against FAU: slow the game down, & play good defense against them.

The only games where the scores were held between the 50's and 70's, they went 2-2 against all the teams they played. Those teams really shouldn't have had a chance.(Loyola Chicago, St Bonaventure, Bryant, & FGCU) The rest of their games were in the 80-100 range.

We 're not really good in a slowed down half-court deliberate offense style.

Loyola’s length completely wrecked CMU. Very limited opportunities to take it to the hole against Loyola’s big and every short was highly contested. LCU looked really good…

Arizona loses to Stanford. How? Two freshman guards go 11-14 from the three and the team shoots 64% from three. Makes 90% from the line as well. Shooting can win any game if they all go in..................

Sorry, off topic, but the Reyn Cen, DonRey, etc. turned 25 this week. I got my seat in "98. It is likely the conference, our intense rivalries, coaching characters and great players that made me love games at the Convention Center more. But the DonRey was/is always nicer.

I never attended a game at the Convention Center so the DonRey is the only home I've ever known for TU basketball. First time I ever stepped foot in the building was actually not a game but the watch party for the elite eight matchup against UNC. I think that left a bigger impression on me than I tend to give it credit for.

I remember going to the Convention Center with my dad as a kid to the games. They were so fun, but nothing beats a packed out Don Rey for a game.

I've seen packed out games in both and the Don Rey certainly has a reverberation to it when it's loud that the Convention Center seemed to lack. My favorite games in each building: TU vs Utah around 1997. Shea's last home game, retired his number and Utah came in with Van Horn, Doleac, Andre Miller, and Hanno Mottola and I believe this was the season before they hit the Final Four.

Reynold's Center- Easy. TU vs Fresno in 2000. I have never been in a more electric environment for a sporting event with maybe the exception of the '91 Beanpot final between Boston University and Boston College (and even moreso than the 2 Frozen Fours I've been to).

That 2000 game against Fresno that we lost....was such a weird feeling. We had 3 or so close range tip ins to win and we couldn't finish it. It was oddly quiet and people kind of just stood there for a second. We lost 3 games to them that season basically all on buzzer beaters and the shot Courtney Alexander made falling away over Eric Coley was just incredible.
