ITS GAMEDAY!!!

Tulsa finally gets to hit the hardwood and today it is to take on Temple. We have been moving up in the NET but with Temple at 123 a win today could give us a big jump.

There is almost the whole conference playing today. Lots of great basketball.

Last game is with Boise State taking on Nevada.

The Womens team moved up 3 spots to 89 in the NET with their win against ECU last night.

Women are back to winning, we need to get the men back to it as well

GO TU!!!!

When Horne and Chapman are both in at the same time it’s the battle of the beards.

Good to see Chapman score. He looks really good in warmups but I’d like to see his show that athleticism in games.

And another flop down the stretch
Maybe the worst team since Phillips

That's a group of fans that will not tolerate bad basketball. Not after their recent success.

Maybe they will be so ticked off they won’t fill our arena
After we win 2 years ago I loudly yelled
Don’t come back

It was going to be embarrassing to have more Shocker fans than TU fans at DonRey. With a bad record they may stay at home. Just like we stay at home now.

Yesterday was a heartbreaking loss as we could have beat that team. There was a lot of careless passws and ball handling. Horne and Griffin are our best players and they had a very bad off night. If they could have caught fire then we would have blown Temple out of the building. They both had horrible shooting games.

The best Tulsa team right now, and its weird saying it, is the womens team. They have dropped 2 games but they were close and winnable. They do not play again until January 19th when they travel to Tampa, Florida to take on the #24 USF Bulls. Hopefully they are watching tape and getting the game plan together to get a road win. I am glad they moved on from Mossman.

There are only 2 games today as 1 was canceled. Arkansas State and Little Rock had their game canceled. “Per Sun Belt Conference policy, games that cannot be played due to COVID-19 will be canceled and considered a no-contest and will not be rescheduled. The minimum threshold required to compete is seven (7) student-athletes (scholarship or non-scholarship), plus one full-time coach. If a team meets that minimum threshold, they are required to play. Teams may choose to play with less than the minimum threshold.”

Oregon State takes on #5 USC. And LMU takes on San Francisco. The West Coast Conference teams are really not that bad. These should be some interesting games to watch if you are staying up that late.

AND 1

After the LMU game on December 7th we won our next two games which were within 9 days of the LMU game. We thumped Alcorn State pretty good and were trending in the right direction. The Alcorn State game was December 16th. We finally played again on December 21st against SMU after having two games canceled (Colorado State and North Texas) during that 12 day stretch. Took the loss to SMU and then 5 days later lost by 3 to Memphis on the road. That game was 8 days ago and we had to pause due to COVID. These guys started practicing again either Monday or Tuesday. Preparing for a team and then having to prepare for another team along with the pauses do take its toll. I don’t want to make excuses but they were not ready last night to finish that game.

Horne had 15 points on 3-16 (19 %) shooting with 1-7 (14%) from deep as well as 8-11 (73%) from the line. Horne never shoots this miserably even if he has a bad first half he has a good second half. He had a bad game altogether. Griffin had 8 points on 2-9 (22%) shotting with 0-5 from deep and 4-4 from the line. These guys do not shoot like this period. Draine kept us in this game with 12 points on 4-5 shooting with 4-4 from deep. As a team we had to shoot 41.4 percent in the second half just to get our game percentage to 35 percent. IF we shot our noramal game percentage of 42-45 percent we would have destroyed Temple last night, but we didn’t.

Some of us can blame Frank for a lot of things. In the end the players have to execute and make their shots. They wer short on a ton of layups. Horne had a slam that came back on him. If he had put it in with the “And 1” we would have dropped the lead to 1. Players still need to make it happen and I am a believer that yesterday was rust. Our next game is Saturday against Houston at the Reynolds Center. I hope they knock the rust off before Saturday.

Unless a miracle happens, and it can, we will have to win the tournament to get in the NCAA. With 3 Conference losses that will be a long and hard row to hoe.

GO TU!!!!!

Poor shooting in the last 2 minutes kept Oregon State from winning this game. Boogie Ellis is playing for USC.
